| Cheapy is correct. Yoga is more than just an exercise. It's about healthy living. Did you ever eat a food and not feel well after eating it? That's your body telling you that it doesn't want it. Have you felt exhausted when waking up in the morning because you can't stop your "monkey mind" from chattering? That's your minds way of telling you to relax.
Yoga encompasses not only the physical, but the emotional and mental aspects of our life. Hatha yoga (which is a generalized term) uses postures and breathing to allow muscles to relax, stretch, firm and strenghten. The breath allows relaxation to help calm the thoughts and stress that plague us through our day. Gradually, you learn what your body wants to eat and drink and will have a tendency to start eating healthier and feeling better. Meditation is an important part of yoga. It can be done any where, any time of the day. All you really need to do is focus on the breath, whether it's for 2 minutes or 20 minutes.
Sorry that is so long. I just love my yoga. |
