| I was thinking that we are all being pretty general in the fact the we all just want to loose weight, so maybe we could break it down and set monthly goals and keep track of each other loss...to help lift each other up. What do ya think? My long term goal is to loose 30 lbs... Monthly goal for me is 10 lbs.... If I reach my goal by Feb 1st I will treat myself to 2 candle rings at the country decor store!

| That is fine with me. I want to lose 30 over all also. My goal for the month is only 5 pounds and that will probably be hard. I am a very slow loser. _________________ Vicki

| Be careful and look after yourself gayla.
Kim..I like this idea...
I'm small at 5'2" and I know I'm a little overweight, not too much thankfully. But at my height a little over can look 'more'. According to the site, I posted, for my height, weight, age range and activity level I can weigh 134lb...but to me that's too heavy for my height....perhaps it means when I cross that I'd be overweight. Up until my early 30s I'd pretty much always weighed 119lb. Then it started sneaking on pound by pound until it got to 133-135. I suppose I'm lucky it wasn't more considering my diet and the terrible sweet tooth I have. I've been 'stuck' for quite a few years but I haven't really put much effort into losing any as I didn't feel it was 'too out of control' if that makes sense. I'm not going to kid myself that I'll get back to 119 because I don't have the willpower or the energy level...lol. Since starting my new job a few months ago I've dropped 3-4 lb then stuck again. My goal is to lose another 4lb which would drop me to 9st (I used to weigh 8 1/2 st) and it may not seem a lot but at my height the difference between 8 1/2 and 9 1/2 is a fair bit. I don't really exercise apart from running around on my feet at work all day and I suppose if not for this I'd be heavier. If I can aim for 1lb per week over January I might get there by the end of the month. My real aim though is not so much to 'diet' but to change my eating habits to more healthy foods and get a little more active outside of work. Yesterday (New Year's Eve) I went to the supermarket and bought quite a bit of fruit, I rarely eat fruit...very naughty. I didn't buy any coffee...on purpose...because I take sugar in my coffee. I'm going to try to have flavoured water or fruit juice whenever I feel like a coffee. And for all of January (to begin with) I'm pledging to eat breakfast EVERY morning instead of rushing out with just a mug of coffee. The end of the month will tell if I feel or weigh any different. I'm not patient enough to count points, I'm just going to try to be good...lol. I just want to feel healthier and more energetic instead of feeling tired so often (which I know is greatly due to my current diet). I feel by posting this that it'll motivate me more as I'd be highly embarrassed if I weighed the same amount at the end of the month. Here's hoping!
p.s. kim, I also liked the idea of treating yourself if you hit target at the end of the month....another motivator!.....I know even for a few lbs I'm going to struggle...but...what could I treat myself too....hmmm.... _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| Thanks for the encouragement Vicki I'm actually amazed I didn't gain over the holidays but we didn't binge as much as previous years. I know if we're all determined and encourage each other we can all get there! _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| Well I didn't achieve my monthly goal for January but I'm now 2lb away from my 'initial' goal weight of 9 st...that seems achievable even if it takes me a little longer to get there. Considering I've slowly gained the extra pounds over a few years I suppose it's reasonable to expect it will take a little while to shift it again, especially since I'm not doing anything too drastic in that direction. I'd just gotten so lazy about it as long as it wasn't too out of control _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |
