| | Ok,,,I am at ROCK BOTTOM!!!! Nothing fits me anymore! I am litterlay down to just a few things to wear as I have gained so much weight! I am working at this now as I have NO choice! I have no $ for new clothes, so DH said I have to lose the weight....not in a mean way...he is doing it with me. We have lost before as a team....I have been looking on Prevention.com and found many things pretty useful. It's hard to eat healthy when you are on a tight budget....but we'll see. I am focusing on portion control. Wish me luck! |

| Kim, Portion control and drinking lots of water are the 2 most important parts of dieting, since both these things are frugal and you're a Fru-Gal I know you can do it! _________________ Dear Lord, help me remember how lucky I am on both the good and the bad days! |

| Sorry to hear you're struggling kim. Try to drink a full glass of water before eating any meal. I dislike drinking plain water so I flavour it slightly with a few drops of lemon (or lime) cordial, it goes down so much better I've also read that you should try using a smaller plate size also and thus doing will reduce the portions you can fit onto the plate. Do you use skimmed milk? I haven't bought full cream milk for years and can't stomach it anymore. I don't use the fully skimmed either, something in between...semi-skimmed (lol) which is okay to drink a glass off...unlike the fully skimmed (UGH!!!). Instead of snacking between meals on sweet stuff (I'm so guilty of this myself ), try having something healthier like wholemeal toast with sliced tomato (diuretic) or such. I appreciate it can be difficult to eat healthily on a smaller income. I've stopped buying white bread altogether and only use wholemeal (generic too!) or multigrain. Best of luck and we're here to listen and offer support _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| I also started using a smaller plate after my friend Marion lost about 20 pounds in a 6 month time period and didn't change any other eating habit. She said she still has seconds once in a while, but as she has to think and get up to get more food instead of just eating the rest of what's on her plate she's less likely to over eat. Today I had my Dr appt to check my blood pressure which had zoomed while on a higher dose of Advair (I have asthma) and I've lost 8 pounds - however, some of this was fluid as the blood pressure med has a diuretic in it. The BP was good too! _________________ Dear Lord, help me remember how lucky I am on both the good and the bad days! |

| | I can vouch on the lemon in the water and have bought flavored water before,,something about the flavor makes it easier to drink,,plain water is hard for me to drink glass after glass. |

| | I got my scale fixed and it wasn't pretty! I am almost 20 lbs heavier than the weight I "swore" I would NEVER get to again! YUCK! So, I am still working at it. Making small changes...like right now it's killing me not to grab a snack, but I'll go grab my book instead and a water.... |
