Ladies, I was wondering if it might be helpful for those of us working on losing weight to list those food items that help us out when we are tempted to reach for those foods that are not so good for us......I have found these foods very helpful and keep them on hand as staples...
low fat string cheese
nonfat cottage cheese (I love canned mandarin oranges mixed up in the cheese)
nonfat sour cream and yogurt to put on baked potatoes
Laughing Cow soft, light garlic and herb cheese (35 calories per wedge) - I
spread it on crackers.
Veggie juice...house brand instead of V8 is cheaper - a small glass eases the
appetite a bit.
Cozy Shack chocolate pudding (yes, you have to use a little restraint, but I like
to mix in just a little peanut butter and it really helps when those sweet urges
threaten to take over) Shocked

OO Spirit,,I like the chocolste pudding idea.I did buy that brand but it was the no added sugar kind,,didnt care too much for that,,but your right with some restraint regular pudding will do fine!
I have heard laughing cow was good,,35 calories is hard to beat!
We are going to hubbys sister in Michigan over Easter weekend,,,my goal is to drop 2 pounds a week,,,hopefully before we go to her home!

Well, Donna, I haven't tried the sugar free version, but the regular works fine for me....oh, I forgot to mention that Campbell's Select - vegetable medley soup also is a great soup- 100 calories per cup and is a good way for me to get veggies, since I can't chew fresh veggies or fruit....and wishing you luck for the weight loss for your Easter visit...2 pounds/week is reasonable and do-able....

ohhh Gayla, you too huh....I somehow feel good and full without the guilt with the cottage cheese and mandarin oranges Cool and yes Donna a tomato sounds great too, but I have to have tomatoes cooked to eat them...sigh. As for Laughing Cow, Skin...we just have 2 varieties here, Creamy Swiss for 50 cals per wedge, and my favorite...the Light Herb and Garlic for 35 cals.....I like to spread the Herb and Garlic on a slice of whole wheat bread and scrunch it into pieces into canned cream of tomato soup(diluted with soy milk) and it makes a very healthy and tasty lunch or even dinner because it is so filling...

Thanks Spirit. I checked while at work last night and we have the 'light' Laughing Cow but it's just plain, but that's okay. It'd be nice spread on wholemeal toast or wheat crackers with tomato slices on top...yummmm.

I made an angel food cake. I have crushed pineapple with fat free whip cream.

I, also, like to peel apples, slice them, put cinnamon on them and micro wave them.

Whipped jello is good. I buy the sugar free and add the fat free cream cheese and lite whip cream to it.

I like flavored lite yogurt with fresh fruit in it or I add some granola cereal to it for a night time snack.

I make a trail mix out of walnuts, almonds, pecans and cran-raisins for a mid-morning, late afternoon snack.
