I decided not to go to TOPS but I am using their system. I have paired up with a few ladies from Church and we are going to support one another.

Doing okay today except I feel like I am eating too much. I have not gotten hungry at all. Maybe because I am used to eating junk and not good for you foods. I am allowed 1500 calories and it is broken down into the exchanges.

I weighed in at a whopping 173.8 pounds and I should be at 135-140 per the doctor. Shame Shame on me. I am larger now than when I gave birth to the kids!! Oh my!!

I even walked down to the end of our cul de sac this morning after walking the kids to the bus stop. I am hoping to do this each morning this week provided the weather is good. A little at a time right?

Thanks for the support ladies!

I got good news at the doctor's today (just a check up visit) I'm down 2 pounds from my weight at this time last year. I have been a real slug this past week, I didn't go to the YMCA at all, although I did OK with eating. Maybe the good news will help me to get to the Y ! Even more than wanting to lose weight to look better I want to be as healthy as I can, I'm now on blood pressure medication and my poor sister as just been diagnosed with diabetes. Boy, the 50s are much tougher than the 40s to stay healthy!

Teri, I have to agree....being in your 50s does take some work.....I also had an appt. with my doctor today and my BP was a bit out of control because of some med changes...I used to be on 4 for BP, now on 3 and one of them is decreasing, so I am headed in the right direction....sometimes it gets discouraging because I walk a steep hill every day and I can really see and feel the benefits.....my doctor made a point of telling me three different times during our conversation that he wants me to keep walking every day... so the point was taken and of course I intend to keep walking because I know I can get very ill if I don't....and I know for a fact that it helps with depression so walking is much better than popping another pill Shocked I am sorry to hear about your sister and diabetes....hope she can get it under control....

Good job to all of you cheers Let's keep this up.

I didn't lose any- but didn't gain any weight, either.

I may not be able to get to my yoga class tonight, AGAIN, because of the @#% snow AGAIN. I shoveled this morning. I figured it's some kind of exercise at least. Tomorrow I start PT for my arm. Any kind of exercise helps. It's slow at work, so I'll head over to the other building and do some serious walking today.

Oh, I read an interesting article yesterday on-line. Once we hit 50, our heart starts to shrink. The shrinking causes the blood pressure to go up. Doctors don't know why it shrinks at the age of 50 and not any other age. This may explain the high blood pressure once we hit a certain age.

Yikes, not sure I like the idea of my head shrinking Rolling Eyes I have a strong family history of BP challenges in my family so some of that comes into play in my case....I have been told that I have a highly reactive metabolism...I can make my pressure rise quite fast just by my reactions to stress...unfortunately it does not work the other way quite as fast...
