| | I'm so glad that she is home! Poor girl. I hope things will be easier for her, Ty went through this too...so we know how hard it is on the person. We are still praying! |

| Thanks everyone. Can you believe we are not starting off good. She has not had a bowel movement since Saturday night after getting home even though she is on the laxative. They want her going everyday and for us to return if she doesn't have one in 4 days. I increased her laxative so we will see. _________________ Vicki

| Have they put her on high fibres and fruits like grapes/raisins etc.? I know I did not have a bowel movement for 2 whole weeks after DS was born and although that was a long time ago I remember how much discomfort I was in and didn't want to eat, I ended up having to use suppositories. I'll keep Rachel in my prayers, hope the increased laxatives help. I know they don't like using suppositories because although they provide initial relief they can have the opposite effect afterwards and leave you back at square one. _________________ ~ LESS IS MORE ~ |

| They did the suppositories the other week. I really don't think her body knows how to empty itself. I will question that when we go back on Friday.
Yes she is on a high fiber diet but she has never eaten fruits and vegs so she is trying. She has been eating oranges, apples, Grape Nuts, V-8 juice, fruit juices, whole wheat breads, multigrain pretzels and she even tried brocolli last night but she gagged on it. _________________ Vicki

| Vicki, Rachel must be so miserable. I am praying that these problems will soon be resolved and that the right course of treatment will be found. Does she drink a lot of water and liquids? I have heard that if you switch over to a high fiber diet, that you also have to increase your liquid intake, or you can have a lot of problems. _________________ MARY |

| | Vicki,,,we went through similar times with Ty and had him at the hospital...what worked for him was to hammer him with Miralax...it's a powder...doesn't cause cramping..and is now not needed to have an Rx to buy...it's at Walmart...when the Dr's try to clear the colon out by going at it from both ends...laxative..and then enema/suppositories....it doesn't make alot of sense to me and never worked for Ty. We had him soak in hot baths as this will loosen the rectum muscles...and then give mirilax mixed with grape juice. We still swear by this and it's the only thing that worked for him. He was dngerously close to haveing his colon so stretched it wouldn't go back to size and would never be able to use the toilet..so we know where your at. I am praying for you and for Rachel. This so uncomfortable. I feel for her. |
