I chose numbers 2 and 4,,we always cook and or pack some food to save on fast foods and restraunts,,this way we can enjoy special night out meals and attractions easier.

I didnt choose number 1,,only attractions with coupons,,but I do try to find coupons for things to do,,but if I cant and we really want to do it,,then we pay full price.

Great question, Donna.
Todd and I are getting ready for our 1 year anniversary trip away.

I chose:
Pack food
Stay in hotel that offers breakfasts
Stay in hotel with kitchen
Go during off seasons

On this vacation, we are doing three of the four. We got a cottage that not only was less expensive than any hotel in the area (because beginning of May is still the off-season), but it enables us to cook 2 meals a day (breakfast & dinner).

When mom and I went to Vegas two years ago, we got a hotel that had a continental breakfast. We ate a huge breakfast for free, and then had a late dinner-early lunch every day at the buffets (at $15/person, we could only afford to eat one meal in Vegas a day), and then snack on Twizzlers and goodies in the room.

When my ex and I went to Cancun, we went in July (what were we thinking?) for $650 total (for two of us) for flight & all inclusive resort. It was a great trip.

AND... our honeymoon. We actually planned our wedding AROUND the Alaskan cruise. Not only were we the first ship to most ports (again, off season), all food was included. I still cant believe we were able to go to Alaska for 7 nights for less than $1600 for the two (if I remember correctly, that is how much it cost including the flights. I could be mistaken).

Thanks to a dear fru-gal friend, she informed me of a coupon Todd and I could take advantage of in Gatlinburg. It cost us $5 for a $25 gift certificate for lunch. We were planning on going to the restaurant anyways while we were down there, but I cant believe it will only cost us $15! ($5 for the $25 coupon, but you have to spend $35 at the restauarnt). Todd and I looked at the menu, and it looks like for $35, we will be taking a couple of meals back to the cabin to eat throughout the week.

We don't go on 'official' vacations, but do get away for my daughter's trips to autism related conferences, in which many expenses are paid for us...including some transportation, lodging and food...we are going to try to do a 'just for family fun trip' this summer up in the mountains and rent a 'yurt' which is a cross between a tent and a cabin...the dog will love this, we hope Rolling Eyes

I chose 3 and 6. We usually stay in a bed and breakfast, so, breakfast is included in the price. We normally go during the off season, not only for cheaper prices, but it's less crowded and the weather is cooler.

I booked our upcoming mid-week anniversary break during 'low-season' which is a little cheaper. Also we booked for 2 nights and get a third night free. Included in the price is a fresh breakfast basket delivered to our cabin every morning. A pretty good deal. I'm not a splurger, even on treats!
We do have a kitchen so we can cook lunch or dinner but we'll probably treat ourselves to a meal or two out, since it will be our anniversary.

We don't usually go on vacations. If we do go away it's a day trip or a night or two off season.
