We've improved a lot lately. It used to be a few times per week, now we try to limit it to once if we're too tired to make anything. There is the odd slip-up but it's not regular! Rolling Eyes
With both DH and myself working we don't always feel like cooking in the evening which is where double-batch cooking pays off. Smile
Not to mention the fact that it can become expensive ordering a lot of take-outs.

I chose once a week.
Todd and I have agreed that we would only eat out once a week.
We have so much food in the house (to make, as well as in the freezer already made) that we really have no need to go out. As long as one of us remembers to take something out of the freezer before we go to work.

With Todd's schedule - he works only 15 days a month (12 1/2 hour days). So he is home several days during the week, which is probably why we dont eat out so much. He always has dinner on the table for me when I get home from work. And when he works on the weekends, I do the same for him. We almost always have leftovers, which we freeze, and eat whenever we want that meal again. It works out pretty darn good. :-)

Because we have so many "staples" in the house, we only need to go to the grocery store to get things like my egg-whites, or just one or two things if we are making a different meal. I dont think our grocery bill has been over $35/2 weeks since he moved in. We also still have about 30 lbs of chicken in the freezer, 2 lbs of ground turkey, and many full sized turkeys we bought on sale after the Thanksgiving holiday so that we can enjoy turkey sandwhiches/soup throughout the year! :-)

Hungry

PS: Todd and I have a rule that we only go out to eat if we have a coupon. I buy the Entertainment book, so that has many coupons for us to choose from. Many times, we both eat for the price of one meal. OR, when we go to our favorite Mexican restaurant, we share our favorite dish: Jumbo Burrito & Rice which is large enough to stuff both of us for only $6.50+tax+tip!

Under normal circumstances we only eat out a few times per month cause it is too expensive with the 6 of us. The past few weeks however it is has been several if not at least 1 meal daily has been eaten out. It really put a hurting on the money situation so hopefully today starting a new week it will be better

Odd how we made this a question on here,,when my DH and I were just discussing our meals for shopping this week. Its like you read my mind~We decided to buckle down more on eating out,,we are going to treat ourselves one time a week to order out or eat out somewhere.
I clicked twice a week box for now,,but this comming week we are staying home.

We used to eat out a lot during the week. DH is a chef and he likes to eat out. When I got sick this past summer, I had to eat a special diet so we stayed in and he developed meals that I could eat. (I prefer homemade food to restaurant food.) We now eat breakfast out on Sundays and get take away food once every 2-3 weeks. I'm much happier and we're saving money.

Gayla - it's good to hear that he wants to eat. It is so hard to find an appetite when going through an illness like he has. Give him whatever he has a craving for. Sending healing thoughts your way.

I chose never because I really can not even remember the last time we did.

Gee,a year or so ago the answer would have been "rarely",but the busier I get with the daycare kids, the more tired I get to cook dinner. It's a shame & I feel quite guilty about it.
I voted for "a few times a month", but it CAN be once a week sometimes.
I feel guilty after the fact, but it always seems like a good idea at the time.
