If you are going to receive a stimulus check within the next few months,,choose what would apply to you and your family.

Ours is going toward Home Depot/Lowes credit card debt.
We have been getting stuff for the house with 0% financing for 12 months. Some of the 12 months is coming due sooner than we have money for! :-)

I will use to make 2 more payments on my van, finish getting stuff for my bathroom so we can complete it, purchase some of the floor we need to do the living room, and purchase some of the blocks needed to start working on rebuilding the retaining wall.

I chose "other". We plan on buying a new washer/dryer. Our wash machine is over 25 years old. It was my grandparents and the thing has been making a "wheezing" sound for over a year now.

Is a stimulus check like a tax rebate/refund?

SKinflint,

It is a check that some people get (depending on income) to help out our economy. The thought was that if people had money, they'd spend more. Everyone I talk to just talks about putting it toward bills/debt.

If you make less than a certain amount, you get an certain amount of money from the Government. If you have children, you get more per child.

This is something that just came about a few months ago. Everyone is now waiting for their payment. It is unclear exactly when we'll get them.

I think M that the arrival time depends on the last 2 digits of the social security number of the head of the household, they are beginning to arrive this week...

I read that somewhere too spirit,,also read if you mailed your taxes in then this check will be mailed also,,if you had direct deposit with your taxes,,which is what we did,,then the stimulus check would be direct deposited also.
I read ours would be here the week of the 16th,,but the news said they are early mailing out,,so we will see!

The tax rebate is, also, non-taxable income which means we won't have to declare it on our income tax for this year.

I don't think this stimulus check is going to stimulate the economy. Like m posted, most people are paying off old debt and not buying anything to boost the economy.

Am thinking that some will rush out to spend, others will carefully plan and maybe save it....we do have a choice and that is always a good thing...

We received ours last week and I bought my new medicine cabinet and light bar, 7 boxes of the flooring for the living room, a Wii, extra controllers and game for the family, paid some on my van, sent my Aunt $100 to help out with their needs as my Uncle is still very sick
