| I'd love to say that I cook everything from scratch but I often cheat and use premixed sauces & marinades, etc....I don't always have time to mix up all the ingredients and am often tired after work and it's just so much quicker and easier to use that jar At least there's no 'leftover' waste. Occasionally it's all from scratch, when I have time or have the inclination (as if...lol). We definitely use much less convenience foods than we used to...saving money that way too! _________________ ~ LESS IS MORE ~ |

| | Im the same way skin,,I clicked combination of both,,Id like to do more from scratch but I do use cake mixes instead of scratch,,and packaged items.I can say that we dont buy pre made food at the grocery,,like they have fried chicken or meatloafs already made,,they usually dont taste as good as home made .I guess we are just picky.lol |

| | I have to cook everything from scratch right now due to the fact that we are BROKE! LOL....I once and a while will make boxed mac-n-cheese...but like for cakes and such, all from scratch...no hamburger helper stuff... |

| I find it can cost me more money to buy all the individual ingredients required to make up certain sauces, etc....plus if there are fresh ingredients I only have a certain time-frame to use them in! That's another reason those jars are handy But like you Donna...I don't buy prepacked lasagne etc....I always make my own there! I do keep the odd bag of frozen chips in case we're tired or in a rush....but we usually get DS to peel potatoes for dinner and he's pretty good that way He'll even cut them into chips if we're not boiling, roasting or mashing....can't complain about that! _________________ ~ LESS IS MORE ~ |

| I use both but mostly from scratch because that how I learned .. I dont make alot of things pasta, pudding yogart ect.. But I bake bread and I make our biscuits ... I make my own "bisquick" and I make cakes and cookie from stratch
so I can make if and have in life but now I just do a combo - but I have taught all my girls how to and my boys my 8 year old can make biscuit and cook simple meals .
with the prices of things now its harder and harder ... _________________ Gayla

| I go by recipes ... and that is what I consider "scratch." Most of the recipes I use are from the 5 ingredients or less book.
But we do use things like hamburger helper and cake mixes as well.

| I said both because I mostly cook from scratch, but do have a few things on hand for really busy times like mac/cheese dinners. I usually have a few brownie mixes in case we get a call to take baked goods someplace and I do not have enough time to make anything else. I like the fact that if you cook from scratch you can actually pronounce all the ingredients! _________________ MARY |
