Our stores almost never have paper bags. I never take my own bags sad to say.

I've read a few articles recently on this topic and some say that even paper causes bigger problems in landfills than plastic (i.e. in taking up more room) but on the plus side it decomposes 'much' more quickly.
The best tactic would really be to take re-useable tote bags of some description so we're not adding to landfills anymore than necessary.
