We use as little utilities as we can...and we heat with wood/coal and have a well. no special serv. we tithe...no cutting back food..I do my best no magazines, no vacations (we camp in the yard) you get the idea...LOL We would cut back on the monet spent on gas. I drive alot! kim |

| I voted for scaling back on my vacation.
We only take one a year, so I wouldn't cut it out completely....I really feel that we need it for our mental health. I've also been married for 24 years, and for the first 20 didn't really take any vacations!! So I feel that now my children are all older, and our priorities are all pretty much met, that now I will try to "Live a beautiful life" like author Alexandra Stoddard says. (BTW, she writes lovely books on how to "live a beautiful life", which is the title of one of her books...I also have her "Tea Celebrations" book).I would definitely not consider them books about frugalility, but there is a difference between living simply, and living in poverty. |

| I hate to admit that there are so many things we could cut back on if dh would cooperate. How do I get him to see the light. He would rather work 24/7 than to cut back. I don't understand some people!! _________________ Vicki

| | I would cut back on our telephone service (which we should do anyway), eating out, cable, internet etc. We don't use specialty services and our vacations are few and low scale anyway. We're both on special diets so cutting the grocery bill would be difficult but I'd give that a shot too. |

| Vicki,
It is funny you mention about your DH. I was just talking to my step-sister today. I am so fortunate that my fiance is all for the frugal life. Not as bad as me (example: thermostat does not get above 62 in this house: he is not adjusting well to that), but he at least watches what things cost, and it is a relief.
It is nice to have someone compare orange juice concentrate vs. gallon of orange juice prices... just like me! :-)
As my economics professor in college used to always say: Get the biggest bang for your buck!
Even though I failed that class miserably - I remember that one saying every time I go shopping and compare prices.
