Great idea Donna. I am guilty of not updating as I get tired of saying the same things over and over.

Rachel is still having seizures, stays in her room all the time. Doctors still know nothing. Lymes test was fine, MRI was fine, EEG was fine, cat scan fine, blood work fine. Her mental health is really good so who knows what is going on. We are working on finding another doctor.

My brother is doing okay. The doctors here found another break that was not fixed and did cat scan to determine whether they were going to have to do another surgery. So far he has 13 screws and 2 plates in his ankle. They have not been able to put him in a hard cast yet due to the other break. He can only tolerate working half days and can't really do much of anything right now.

My uncle has been in and out of the hospital several times now. The cancer is stable but he keeps getting blood clots and they give him blood thinners and then he has mini strokes. Now he can barely communicate or do anything. My aunt is really struggling trying to take care of him and everything else. They have no income so my mom and I have been trying to send what we can to help out.

My stepsister is pretty much as good as she's going to get.
Her tumor is continuing to grow even though they released alot of the pressure a year and a half ago with the surgery. She is still having seizures (spelling?), but they dont know why/how. Right now, it is pretty much a waiting game to see what the doctors are going to do.

She still has a hard time remembering things, and will repeat herself over and over again. When you walk into her room, there are post-it notes everywhere, and alot of them repeating something she's already written. She eats every 20 minutes because she doesnt remember that she just ate breakfast. Because of this, she is getting bigger and bigger, which is not helping her mobility (which is limited as it is : she walks from her bedroom to the bathroom or kitchen : I bet she takes less than 500 steps a day).

She has diabetes, which she's had since she had Natalie, but in my opinion, doesnt watch it very well. I am surprised by the amount of frozen meals she eats.

My step-mom tries to make meals for her before she goes to work for the day to eat healthy, but when she gets home, she finds a dozen eggs gone because my sister made a full dozen eggs and made them into egg salad sandwhiches - and ate it all within a days time.

She loves Natalie, but when asked to watch her for a few minutes while in a bathtub, or just in general, she came out of the bathroom (while Natalie was still in the tub!) to tell her mom something. She doesnt realize what the consequences are for something like that.

Dad and Trina are trying to get my sister into a home with people who can watch her and take care of her full-time as well as to allow her to socialize. My sister is pretty much confined to the house because she gets so tired even walking down the stairs to get into the car (they have a split-level home).

As I said earlier, it is pretty much a waiting game with everything (the assisted living home as well as any future surgeries). We are all hoping that she will be with us for many years to come; however, she has many factors that are working against her between the tumor, the seizures, obesity, blood sugar, blood clots, medications (she has a ton of pills to take every day, and she sometimes forgets to take them at the time she's supposed to (every 3 hours it seems)).

Your continued prayers are greatly appreciated.

~M

I'm still praying for all who need it.

DH is doing very well after his surgery yesterday but won't be back to work until next week. Luckily his wages are covered under Work Cover.

DS is having his 2nd surgery on Friday next week, the Doctor today was happy with the results of the first surgery so far. I actually was able to take a good look while it was uncovered today for inspection without fainting. DS still won't look at it. It's been parcelled up again until next week. Provided there are no further complications or infections, he shouldn't require further more complex surgery which might result in further amputation. Hopefully he's just have to worry about the long process of regaining flexibility. We are so thankful, to date, that his finger has been saved.
Thanks for all prayers and good wishes.

I re-read my post to see if I may have been in a "funk" last night and was negative, but pretty much everything is true.
I didnt candy-coat anything. Those are the pressures my father and step-mother have to deal with daily, unfortunately.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE:
We are really blessed that she is still with us and making us laugh as she does. That is one thing that the tumor did not take away is her ability to shoot out the one liners to make us all crack up around the dinner table. She is very witty.

Another blessing is that she has made it a year longer than the doctors gave her. The surgeon she went to said he'd never seen a tumor as big as hers (the size of a grapefruit smack dab in the middle of her brain around her optic nerve and pituitary gland).
She can also function as a human being, which they were not sure would be possible after the surgery.

First of all, I would like to say to all of you how much I admire your strength, courage and compassion. Like my parish family, you have all helped me get through a really, really bad time over the past 3 1/2 years. If it wasn't for all of you, including my family, friends and parish family, I would have gone over the edge and not been here. So, thank you. I have learned so much from all of you and am grateful for this forum and all my family members.

My dad - is doing better. He developed the staph infection after the angi-gram and had to go on anti-biotics. About a week after that, he fell and broke his rib and ended up in the emergency room. The ER nurse did a blood work up, and discovered that his blood was W-A-Y too thin. So, he had to come off the blood thinning med to try and thicken the blood up. It's taken about 3 weeks, but his blood levels are now where they should be and his blood thining med has been adjusted. His rib is still sore and will take months to heal. Oh, he received a letter from the drug company that manufacturers his heart failure medication stating that the med could actually cause heart failure. So, he had to get another medication from a different drug company. Rolling Eyes He is still tires easily, but is doing more and anxious to get out into the garden.

My mom is tired. It's been very wearing on her, but my mom is a strong person and devouted to my father and will do anything to keep him healthy.

My continued prayers are with all of you and your families.

I think Teri is on vacation,,Id like to hear about her nephews(?) that are ill,,or were ill.

M,I took care of my mom who had alzheimers.Alot of what you said earlier is alot like a alzheimers patient. One thing we did was to have mom go to a adult day care. She would go there in the day as we worked,,they were staffed with caregivers and nurses. They would give medications when needed, and even would shower patients if the family needed tthat help,,also had a beauty shop inside to do hair. They gave my mom a great perm.

Its hard to watch someone go through it but,,providing a quality life is so much more meaningful than I can put in words.Plus,,as much as I loved my mom,,it was a nice break from being the around the clock caregiver.Maybe your dad can look into that,,assisitance might help pay also.Sorry to go on and on,,I have just been the caregiver/family member,,so I learned a few things through trial and error.

Skin,,Im very happy the surgeries went well for both men in your life.Amen.
Sissy,,I will keep your dad in my prayers,,he has a long road ahead of him but seems to have a caring family to help him.Im happy things are working out in one way or another for each of us.God works in mysterious way.I listen to K-Love,,its a religious music station,,they send emails with thought in them.Todays was from Phillipians,,and the message was"Stop worrying and pray,,pray to God for all things and thanks God for all things..stop worrying and allow God to be there.

Although I lost my friend Jan to cancer in Feb, many of my prayers have been answered, my friend's son, Michael, is finishing his chemo treatments and is doing better than the doctors expected. My friend Russell's cancer isn't in remission, but the growth is so slow due to treatment that he is living a very full life. You all help keep me on track, your faith is an inspiration to me.
Thanks you!

It is great to hear all the updates. I personally want to thank everyone here for all their prayers. Without them I don't know how I would have gotten through the past 1 1/2 years!
