| The lunch before the basketball game is going to be $20.00. I bought a coupon from restaurant.com 1/2 mile away from the arena. This way, we get our exercise AND a cheap day. The tickets were free from a vendor (and a parking pass was provided). A date for two to a basketball game with lunch, 2nd row seats, and free parking: $20. Not bad in my opinion. ~M _________________ "It is not how much money you make - it is how you spend it."

| I'd really like to try this on alternate months which means every other month I'd have to be well organized and prepared, this would involve making purchases for projects or gifts in advance
Isn't it funny how you feel the urge to buy when you know you can't
WILL-POWER...WILL-POWER...WILL-POWER....
If I can do this maybe I can cut down on chocolate.....NOOOOOO!!!!! _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| Day 2 - no spending.
I talked to Todd about it tonight at dinner (it's the first chance I've talked to him in 3 days, he's been at the Akron house). I asked him if he wanted to come on board with us. He said, "Honey, I dont spend on anything anyways. The only thing I spend on is beer & chew." Which is true. He can buy 6 cans of chew (he buys the cheapest stuff) and it will last him the entire month ($8/month habbit). And beer... he knows I dont like when he drinks, so he limits it to about a 24 pack a month ($12.99/month). He gets a $20 allowance every week...and all he spends is $20/month. :-) I guess he's right.
I never keep my allowance in cash, so I always ask him to get this at the store when he's there, or fill up the water jug, etc. I think I spend more of his allowance than he does!!!

| I spent today on sale grocery items (less than $10) and gasoline for the car.
I bought something today that is NOT a necessity, but I couldnt help myself. I bought more seeds for the garden. I had to. Well....it wasnt life or death, but the auctions were staring me right in the eyes. I spent $9.15 (shipping included) on 9 different flower & vegetable seeds. One of the flower seeds I purchased is an edible flower! I am interested to see what they are like. :-) The main reason I bought them is because they're beautiful.

| I took dh out to dinner for his birthday last night. We are going to Nashville for the weekend so I can almost guarantee we will spend unnecessarily. Not off to a good start. _________________ [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

| I still think that if I can do it for one full week or even two full weeks of the month, it's better than not doing it at all.
I think the key is that we are all aware of what we are spending on. We can differentiate from wants & needs. Not many people even THINK about their purchases.

| Maybe we should postpone it and start fresh next month so we can be better prepared! Which would mean buying any craft or gifts early before the 'no unnecessary spend' month began. _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| Whatever suits each persons needs will work best for them,,,not buying anything new for any amount of time will do the landfills and the budgets a whole lotta good! I am on day 4 of nothing yet,,,have a mental list of what I am gonna buy next month though! LOL |

| Donna, you are doing great. Those are really cute Santa & Mrs. Clause. How did you make them?
Today I did not spend. 3/4 days I did not spend. But...tomorrow I will be spending on groceries and lunch.
