| Are stores open for trade on Sundays for everyone here?
It's only been going for a few years here in QLD after the laws were changed to permit it. Before that only a limited few opened for trade.
Personally, I'd rather all stores closed on a Sunday. It's amazing how shopping centres are jam-packed with people browsing, eating and spending or adding to their credit balances. Wouldn't it be better to 'take a day off' and relax at home or go to a park or beach for FREE??? It makes you wonder how people ever managed to entertain themselves on this traditional day of rest. Sometimes things can be made 'too' convenient, it's not always better! Anyway, that's my tuppence worth _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| All stores except liquor stores are open in Colorado on Sundays but generally have different hours from weekdays....however liquor stores are trying to get the law changed so they can be open too....I personally hope that does not happen and Skin, I agree...it is a shame that more people can't use Sundays for family time and not run up their credit on things they may not really need... _________________ Love is a fruit, in season at all times and within the reach of every hand. | It just amazes me how many people (families included) now spend this leisure time shopping, it's especially worrying right now when so many are struggling financially. Pretty much all stores open here, liquor stores included, and that's all day with an hour or two exception for smaller independant stores.
Shopping is now viewed by many as a leisure activity. _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| Drugstores open at 9AM Convenience stores and most gas stations open 24 hours Grocery stores open 24 hours Malls open at 12 PM Craft stores like Joannes open at 9:30AM Liquor stores open at 12 PM Target opens at 8 AM
The blue laws were banished in this area over 20 years ago.
I went to our grocery store this morning before work and a big sign on the door read:
For your shopping convenience this store will be open normal hours on Easter Sunday
How sad is that for the workers who want to celebrate the holiday. |
