| M, love the new pics of Squiggy, he's totally adorable. Is he very noisy? Maybe just at foodtime huh? BTW, what does he eat? I wouldn't have a clue _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| What does he act like as a pet? Well, he is definitely alot of fun. He is always making me laugh. They say pigs are smart, but I've had my doubts about Squiggy...up until recently. We've kind of made a course for him (hiding snacks) around the house, and let me tell you... he found every cheerio that I hid. :-) We have 3 boxes stacked up on each other, and he would sit staring at the top box, thinking... and then before you know it, he found ways to get the boxes down and got the treats. His life revolves around food! He will do anything to get to food. He has learned how to open up cabinets now, and knows that mommy is a softie, so if he stands in front of the fridge long enough, he will most likely get a potatoe.
As for company - he hasnt met too many people other than my brother and his wife (and their dog). Well...and the neighbors! Many people crouch down and want to pet him right away like one does to a dog. You cant do that with pigs. They have to sniff you out first to see what you're all about. So, I ask that people just stand there for a little while and pay no attention to him. It takes him about 5 minutes, and then he follows you around everywhere you go!
Pigs are very social beings. They need time with people/things. Squiggy loved when we were dog sitting my mom's dog. He always had someone to play with (torment). And, quite frankly, he stayed out of our hair! :-) That's why I've been considering either another pig or a dog. But, every time I do, I think about 2 of Squiggy, and decide against it.
Squiggy is potty trained, for the most part. He grunts sometimes and Todd does not pay attention, so he goes a little in the corner. But, other than that, he lets us know (by grunting) that he has to go potty. He has a very low grunt that tells me he's got to go "poopie" as we call it. When we are gone throughout the day (for 10 hours while we are at work), he has a "piggy pen" that Todd built for him inside the house. It has enough room for him to run around, his bed (a old dog's bed), a blankie (he loves to wrap himself up like a pig in a blanket), his water, etc. There are 2 litter boxes in there. They are not normal size litter boxes. They have to be able to turn around in them, so we have a sweater box, and a cement mixing pan in there. He uses both of them without fail.
Squiggy also has a place outside to go when it warms up. We bought a shed for him, it just needs to be built. We are cutting a door for him on the one side that will lead to the outside fenced in with chicken wire so that when we are at work, he can be outside grazing if he chooses. He loves to be outside in the warm weather.
Squiggy sleeps inside in the computer room in a big dog cage mom gave us. It has many blankets for him to wrap up in. We used to have a litter box in there, but it didnt give him enough room, so we took it out because he was having accidents in the cage. Well, as soon as we took it out, he has not had an accident in there since! We have him trained on when to go potty. 7:30 is his last poopy, bedtime is at 8, and then I let him out at around 9:30 or 10 to go pee. As soon as Todd wakes up at 4, he lets piggy out to go potty.
Piggies make alot of noises...unless he is busy eating something. He grunts when he's got to go potty, he makes a different grunting noise when he's happy, he squeels at times, he makes this "maroo" noise at times which is why I call him Squiggy Maroo, and he makes a noise like he's trying to get popcorn out of the back of his throat at times. It's hilarious. But, generally, he's pretty quiet. We give him dog bones with stuff in the middle that keeps him busy and quiet.
When Todd and I eat, Squiggy gets a few potatoes to keep him busy for a little bit of time. After he's done, he starts wanting some of our food. He gets the plates to lick off after we are done. :-) Pigs eat feed - they have one for regular pigs that bulk them up, but they also have ones for "miniature pigs" which is what Squiggy is considered. It is high in fiber, and he eats 1/2 cup twice a day. But he also gets potatoes (he likes them raw and cooked), carrots, and he loves plain Cheerios as snacks. We have dog treats for him that he likes to chew on for a while, and I hate to say this, but he loves pig ears!
I hope I answered all of your questions. Thank you for inquiring.

| I am going thru the messageboard trying to clean up a bit, and I found a picture of Squiggy when he was 2 1/2 months old.
I cant believe how small he was.

| To be honest, I think he's more cute now than he was then. Maybe it's because of his personality. Right now, he's in the kitch trying to get the last bit of peanut butter out of the container. All I hear is grunt, smash (him hitting it against the wall), grunt, grunt.
I love my . Even though he has graduated up to being a "terror," from Dennis the Menace, I still love the little guy.
