| I'm off to my 2nd monthly K&N this morning. I'm not bringing my knitting this time, instead I'll be sorting out the groups knitting needle stash, I volunteered . DH made me 12 pvc tubes with caps on both ends (one end secured) and I got an empty wine box with dividers to stand them up in. I've written the needle sizes on the removable end-caps in metric (& equivalent imperial size) so the collection can be sorted and organized (you know me! ). We're having two volunteer guest speakers today from Student Care Welfare who will tell us what the group does and about things they need like clothing, household items, etc. I'm sure I'll learn a lot today, there are so many wonderful volunteers out there. Anyway....better run..... _________________ ~ LESS IS MORE ~ |

| I don't like long flights Vicki, otherwise I'd jump at the chance....
Well, a fairly productive few hours but so many needles and not enough time. The rest will keep until next time but we made a great start.
I learned so much from the speakers about young people on the streets and in abusive homes, all incredibly sad and very eye-opening. Some stories had positive outcomes which instills hope. Resources are so limited for the volume of those in need. The majority of those involved with the charities spoken of today volunteer their time, even during the night to deliver blankets, clothing and food to kids on the streets. They do not apply for government grants because then they are placed under many restrictions and they want to help anyone who needs it, not just a narrow margin. _________________ ~ LESS IS MORE ~ |
