PostSubject: New Year resolutions   Wed 05 Dec 2007, 5:02 am

I know it's not even Christmas...yet!!!

I was just thinking about this last night though and wondered if anyone else had been too?

I'm going to make my New Years Resolution something to do with frugality I think, not going to try giving anything up...my only real vices are chocolate, wool and books. Neutral

I've also been thinking of trying 'Once-A-Month' shopping after Christmas, maybe I should make that my new resolution for added incentive! scratch

I'll have to work on a 4-5 weekly menu but realize I'll still need to shop for some fresh items in between. I'm going to make up a little recipe book of favourite and cheaper meals we've tried and liked, especially one we had tonight...curried sausages and mashed potatoes...mmmmm...

Anyone else planning New Year resolutions?

I have pretty much never kept mine in the past Laughing

I have never really stuck with one myself either. Maybe I will really think about it this time and see what I come up with.

I'm going to keep the credit card charges down on a monthly basis. I tried this last year, but it didn't work. So, this year, I'm really going to make an effort.

I'm going to clean, clean, clean clutter. No sentimentality on my part.

I'm going to tackle all the little projects that I've been putting off and getting those out of the way, like getting my recipes in order.

I want to get my sewing machine fixed so I don't have to use my mother's all the time.

Exercise, eat healthy and read more books.

Start my Christmas shopping early.

I am going to work on catching up on bills and paying off my debts. We have so many credit card bills from the past 3 years.

Also to clean out our shed as it is full of my brothers stuff still and we can't get our stuff in it.

Todd and I have been doing GREAT on our budget, but two unexpected charges came up recently that will add another $300 to my credit card bill. So, my resolution(s) will be:

1.) Accumulate money for the unexpected bills (not savings money, but unexpected charges money) of at least $500.
2.) Start a cleaning schedule (Monday, vaccuum/shampoo carpets, Tuesday, clean bathroom, etc. etc. etc.) so house is not always in disorder.
3.) Consolidate my 2 credit card bills into one with hopefully a low interest rate for the life of the balance (Todd has a 3.9% one - and it has been working out great!)
4.) Get on the treadmill at least 30 minutes a day : and try to weight train a couple times a week
5.) Eat less (portion control) / and choose more healthy choices
6.) Try to rent/sell Akron house
7.) Have a huge garage sale in the Spring to get rid of some of this junk!!! (it will take many, many months to go thru everything to see what we want to sell, and what we want to keep for the new house. The new house is still a complete and utter mess.)

Happy to hear your budget is working out for you and Todd, M.
Good luck with all the other projects. That's a BIG list!

Great news!!!!
After I got done writing my resolution, I got an offer in my e-mail from a bank I go thru for my car loan. They have a consildation credit card offer.
I applied online, and got accepted immediately. I now have to wait for my card, and start transferring my two balances to one!

And, the rate is good for the life of the balance.
Not to mention there is no fee to transfer!!!
Yippee!
I just hit the jackpot.

BUT, this upcoming year, I want to NOT have to use credit cards at all. No more balances other than the one I will be paying off.

One thing checked off the list... :-)

m, that's an impressive start with your 'to do' list for the New Year. Best wishes for sticking with that plan!
