| There has been a lot of flash-flooding in Queensland over the last few weeks, further north from us. Many families have had to abandon their homes and have returned to find that looters have broken in and stolen anything not water damaged. A few were caught on helicopter news cameras, though. Some people stoop really low _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| This is all so terrible. How can people take advantage of others suffering?

| I feel for those flood victims, Skin....similar things go on during natural disasters here in the States....as well as with racial riots.....it seems that fear and greed seem to be used as justification for many people to behave badly when the daily law enforcement system breaks down because of disaster...so very sad... _________________ Love is a fruit, in season at all times and within the reach of every hand. | Here is another trend....there was a man here whose home was in forclosure, so he set fire to it and took off, hoping to collect insurance on it or maybe just in spite, not sure....anyway a neighbor saw him leaving in a hurry and reported smoke coming from the house....supposedly arson investigators are busier than ever because more and more people are doing this....this is so disgusting to me....I sympathize with people going through forclosure but that in no way justifies putting your neighbors and the firefighters in danger...I just cannot comprehend this..... _________________ Love is a fruit, in season at all times and within the reach of every hand. | I heard some more reports about the forclosure arson thing and even though there was discussion about how this kind of thing causes everyone's insurance rates to go up, I did not hear about the danger this puts others in....what does this say about priorities???? _________________ Love is a fruit, in season at all times and within the reach of every hand. | | I heard about people setting fire to their homes for the insurance. Don't these people understand with all the technology, fire investigators can find the cause of the fire? Not only do they lose their homes, they will be charged with arson. What is there to gain from doing this? |

| Desperation makes some people do very foolish things, I don't think some of them are thinking rationally, it's so sad. _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| No it does not make any sense, and you are right Sissy, today's technology makes it pretty easy to detect arson....what does going to jail prove...especially if children are involved?? _________________ Love is a fruit, in season at all times and within the reach of every hand. | Please don't get so upset ladies, all of these things happen, but so do good things that aren't reported on the news. Bad news sells merchandise, that's a fact that all news agencies know. Remember you are hearing news from all over the US and the world. Even when bad things happen in your neighborhood, how often do you hear about people helping that person, you don't very often, because it isn't sensational. So trust in God, but lock your doors. _________________ Dear Lord, help me remember how lucky I am on both the good and the bad days! |
