http://www.thesimpledollar.com/2008/02/11/using-supercook-to-save-on-your-grocery-bill/

I got this link from TheSimpleDollar.com.
It looks interesting. I will have to try it when I go home (I am at work right now). I would love to go thru my cupboards...get the stuff way in the back and start cooking! :-) Get rid of all of those canned goods, and such.

Let me know how everyone likes it.

Thankyou M,,It has me wondering if anyone here buys in bulk,,and buys side of beef,,or a quarter side.Is it worth it,,I have never bought beef like that but have only bought paper items in bulk,,like toilet paper etc.

I have plans to buy a freezer,,small one,,and wanted to put sales on meats veggies etc in it..but thats a later this year purchase.

Oh...I like!
Plus, we can use this when there are super-sales on items at the grocery stores, ladies!

I love that you have many choices, and it will tell you the only things needed to complete the recipe.

I just found one that I have all ingredients for, and I would have never thought to make : Corndog muffins! All we need is cornbread mix ($0.29), hotdogs ($0.59/pkg at SAL). Prepare cornbread mix, cut up hotdogs, place the mixture into muffin pan and cook! Voila!

I dont like hotdogs, but love corndogs. This may be perfect for me when Todd wants hotdogs and chilli sauce.

Donna,

We have a small standing freezer (I am thinking 13 cubic feet?)

My mom buys a half a cow at a time and pays $1.99/lb. That is for steaks, roasts, and burgers. We end up getting alot of roasts and burgers, they love the steaks.

When things are on sale, I buy alot of them. For instance, when chicken leg quarters are on sale for $0.39/lb, I get quite a bit of them. I think last time, I got 40 pounds worth. That would only be $16! We are still eating chicken breast that we've had in the freezer for over a month that was on sale for $1.39/lb, I think it was.

On my way to work, out in the country, there is a house that has a larger freezer for sale that I'd love to get, but Todd is affraid that the more room I've got, the more stuff I'll buy. NATURALLY! I cant pass up a good deal!

The downfall is - because we are doing once a month shopping, I bought alot of buns for Todd's sandwhiches for work, and they are taking up alot of space in my freezer.

I made the To Die for Roast on Sunday. It was really, really good. The recipe does recommend not to use all of the ranch dressing mix because it is salty. I used the entire envelope, and it was too salty for my taste. Next time, I'll use only 1/2 the envelope. The gravy is delicious. I added some onions and carrots and it was a nice, easy meal.

Sissy, thanks for sharing, it's nice to know when something's been tried and tested Smile

Donna, we've been considering for quite a while now, getting a smaller freezer for the garages, after we've organized down there of course! Even though we have a reasonable sized one in the kitchen, I'm now finding I could use more freezer space for larger (& fewer) shopping trips and freezing bulk-cooked meals, etc.
I've seen several for sale on ebay but cannot be sure how energy efficient they are compared to newer models. Every few months one of the larger retail stores here sells a counter-top height one on sale, and they have 'high-star' energy efficiency so I think we'll go for that with a new product warranty. DH is 'iffy' about preloved electrical products anyhow.

M...I know what you mean about bread taking up space Rolling Eyes
