Yikes!!! The Attic!!!!

Well ladies....you may never hear from me again! LOL...Rob has told me to start cleaning the attic!! We have lived here for 8 years and have not touched it...the attic was FULL of JUNK from the people who lived here before us...and I mean JUNK! So, here I go...man do I ever hope no critters are up there...oh no...what about bats! I am SOOOO not excited! Wish me luck! It will more than likely take at least a year to do this job...ARGGGG

Oh, Kim. You do have your work cut out for you, but it will be well worth the effort once it's cleaned and organized.

BATS - We had bats in our house. One was flying around in our bedroom affraid

But don't you worry, they hibernate in the winter (that is if you're in a cold climate where the temps are below 50 degrees. Some actually fly south for the winter like birds). We were told that they're more afraid of us than we are of them. Yeah, right.

Anyways, keep us posted on your progress.

Well...so far so good...no critters...but there is some mouse poop!! So, I am afraid EVERY time I have to go through a box! LOL...
Ashley and I got through almost one whole side! We have the middle left, and it appears that there is stuff stored WAY back...I'm nervous! and then some on the other side as we on;y have partial use. I have only found some old pics and a picture in a frame that the other people would want! The rest was TRASH! I have a whole pile of stuff to burn...it's raining today so we can't. Some for the dump and added a few things to my goodwill box. The kids have a washing machine FULL of stuffed animals...and we found a few other things...not much. It's unreal how lazy people can be to just store TRASH in the attic! The funny thing is that there was another set of people who lived here before us...so the people who the TRASH belongs to haven't lived here about 1990!!

I know about attics Kim I have 30 years of stuff in our attic including and lots more

I might even clean out the sheds

Great job so far kim, I'm sure Ashley has had fun helping too.
Is it like a proper room, standing height etc...or is it just like an overhead storage space. What I mean is can you utilize it as a proper room?

BTW..I'm so glad we don't have an attic Laughing

Nope...it's SO not a proper room! It's big but you can only stand up at the peak..and there are nails from the roof poking out all over so your back gets cut all the time...and in some areas you have to balance on trusses! LOL...it's not fun Smile

Newest progress..I'd say we are now almost 1/2 done! There is so much trash!! My body is so tired, it's really hard work...and we have a REALLY REALLY wobbly ladder to climb up there. But, it will be SO nice to have the space. I feel like bugs are all over me from being so dirty..lol...

Skin...that is JUST what I needed as I was going to store some photos up there...hadn't thought about the summer heat! and I love the idea to store stuff in rows..I will be doing that...I have a picture in my head! Smile

Today we are going to make a trip to the GoodWill to drop stuff off...my body hurts from doing all that yesterday. so, I will catch up on REG. housework and work in the attic after lunch..and then over the weekend with Rob's help Smile

Can't wait to be done!!

What a tough job Kim, but you are doing great. Good thing I do not have anything up in an attic, or I would be in serious trouble. Just have to sort out everything down below!!!

you doing great Kim I asked for volunter to do the attic my son said Mom no one in this house is that brave ... Frank said we take it all down and move to a shed , boys she wont get rid of a thing... He knows me well .
