Dancing Feather,
Kenmores of that age are usually good machines, it really sounds like thread way down in the bobbin assembly. I have at least 4 Kenmores from the 60s that I love. Reliable Sewing is, I think on Washingtn St. If you get off Rt 24 at the RT 139W exit you take a left at the first set of lights. Reliable is in an office complex about 1/2 mle down on the right, the building is a large white and brick building with faux colonial decor. The people there are wonderful. If I were to buy another machine (HA! like that not going to happen, LOL) it would be a Bernina, Phaff or Viking (Hasquvena) and it would be used. Since I do my own maintence I would buy it at a thrift store. However, if I were you I would get a sewing machine new or used at Saftler's (Rt 18 Whitman) or Ann's in Dedham or Reliable Sewing or Fabric Place in Randolph. Please try to resist the W-Mart ones, they break very easily. In the mean time don't throw the machine you have away. I'll be 'home' in June and will be happy to check it out for you

Thanks Teri. You really know your stuff! I was wondering about buying used at Saftler's. Thanks for the tip about W-mart ones. I'll check out Reliable and see what they say or maybe I'll just wait for you. What a perfect excuse to meet!
