Cheap Date

Subject: Cheap Date Fri 24 Aug 2007, 7:27 pm

Talk about a cheap date this evening!!We took the oldest grandson(9) and the youngest granddaughter(2) and went to a park that had a playground and to their surprise, a creek.We all waded in the creek,,tried to catch minnows and frogs but they are way too fast for us!Built a small dam and rerouted the water to one side then back to the other...the granddaughter fell back on her bottem,,instead of crying she started to giggle with the water running on her...so off came the diaper and she was splashing around having a ball!

The grandson swore he found deer tracks and fossils.The only thing cost us was a little bit of gas to get there..tommorrow we are gonna pack a picnic basket and take them to another creek ,,this time with a net,,those minnows are tricky!!!! lol!

Such innocent fun,,back to nature,,no video games or phones,,just good old fashion family fun,,at no cost.Im sure we created memories in their little minds!

those are the best Donna ... We take ours out to play at the park when the weather permits ... lately we been so hot .. but yesterday we had just rain and we took them out to play in the rain ... that was pure joy

Sounds like you all had a wonderful time Donna.
Maybe next time you could take a camera and capture some of those treasured (& funny) memories, I know how much you love scrapbooking and maybe you could create some kind of 'Treasured Moments' book. Smile

Donna....that sounds like fun Smile

Those are the things we do daily...and it's great! It's awesome to see kids experience those kind of things for the first time. Afer all the rain,,,my kids play in the mud (get covered head to toe! )...my 2 do it ALL the time, but it was Robbies first time and it was priceless Smile

Donna, you'll have those memories for a lifetime!

Donna,

When I read your post, all I could do is smile.
It sounds like everyone had a blast, and you are right : memories that will last a lifetime.

That is what life should be all about. Instead of all of these electronics all of the time (I must admit, I cant do without my computer : but I could easily do without our cell phones), it should be about nature, making memories, and having a good time doing it.

Thats so true.As I get older I foind myself saying things my mom had said,,like "when I was younger we didnt have videos like you all,," or you need to go out and play..turn the tv off"..we had such a good time,,we plan on going back more and more weather permitting.Love having a great time with the kids,,and for it to be educational and free,,what else could one ask for!
