| Good morning gals.
I am part of an Early Retirement forum to help me achieve my goals of Early Retirement (we call it ER).
I was just informed that at the following address, there is a Money Market Certificate that pays 6.25% interest compounded DAILY for 3 years+ (you choose the term).
https://www.penfed.org/index.asp
The downfall(s):
1.) You or your family has to be in the military, or retired, etc. **IF NOT: You can pay $20 for for NMFA and be able to be a member of PenFed Credit Union! This will be me. I was told from the board that you just have to do a 1 year subscription to NMFA (which is tax deductible), and then you are in PenFed's system for life without having to pay that organization ever again if you dont want to. The organization is for a good cause. http://www.nmfa.org/site/PageServer (National Military Family Association)
2.) You must put in at least $1,000
For me, even though I have debts to be paid off this year, I am planning on using my bonus money from work to start this account. I cant afford NOT to. You can choose a term for up to 7 years. This year, I was planning on investing every month into Savings Bonds for ER, but they dont get anywhere near this interest rate. These rates are only good thru 1/31/07. From what I hear, for the last few years, this website has offered these Money Market Certificates for an average of 6%.
I just wanted to let my frugal friends know.
