I bounced a check for the first time in my life. Crying or Very sad
What a horrible feeling to log into my account this morning and see it in red.

What's worse is that I put just $4 of gas into my tank earlier this week to get me to somewhere that is cheaper, and it looks like I may be charged for that as well. DOH! Good thing I'm working OT this week, I'm going to need it.

I am so angry at myself.
But, I guess this is what happens when you dont keep a checkbook.

There should be a thread for now UN-Frugal things happen! :-)

M - I am sorry to hear that. Unfortunately it is a common occurrence here. We have gotten alot better. But sometimes we wait until the last day to pay something to get closer to our payday and something will happen and the check will come in a day before and they will charge us sometimes even the morning of our direct deposit and the bank will still charge us.

You know what makes me mad? Our check gets deposited at midnight on Thursdays but it doesn't post to our account until after 9am on Friday but if a check comes on Thursday night they will post it to our account, overdrawing our account pay the check but then charge us $31.00 even though the money is there.

That dosent make sense Vicki,,I would definitly complain on that,,to me,,once it is deposited,,,its IN the bank.Especially for direct deposit,,that goes directly in,,not like waitiing on a out of town check to clear.

I just logged onto my bank account - and I got charged $33 for the bounced check. But what made me really mad is that they returned the check to the payee. So that means I will be charged a fee from them as well.

I am pretty angry at myself right now.
I will definitely be keeping a buffer from now on.
The thing is, I would have needed $1,000+ buffer to avoid this. Or... keep a checkbook. :-) That would be the cheapest, most logical thing to do.

I suppose I should get out my money program and start setting up the account.
