Do you think we are headed for a recession?

I am hearing both yes and no from co-workers,,and when I watch the news its always a maybe or could be,,no definite answers.

yes if I had any doubt when the Fed lowered the prime rate twice.. Scary

Look at the housing mess .

DH gets several calls a week forecloser surveys .

Not to sound all 'gloom and doom' here but Gayla is right...the housing market is a mess as well as the regular stock market....and not to sound paranoid but the crime rate tends to go up during this kind of situation so it is worth being extra alert when it comes to personal and home and family safety....

yes we are! Rob makes a product used in building commercial homes and the sales are DOWN!!!! and prices on everything else is going UP!

Yes, we are heading for a recession. It makes it worse when people like Greenspan comes out and says it and people start to panic, which is what is happening. The area I live in never had a labor boom, never had a housing boom and the Canadians are still buying over here. So, I don't think this area is going to feel the crunch as badly.

I am glad for you Sissy but other areas in the county are hard it ... her its dead .. either you work for the bank or real estate office or the grocery .... forecloser list for three counties covered a page in our little paper . I thankful we will be alright it getting stranger and stranger ... a lady that come to the food bank to volunteer was in line today her husband lost his job when his company closed . she doesnt know what to do

It is so sad and so hard for many people...I think many will have to face that same hardship as that lasy at the food bank.

we gave out at last count 371 boxes of food we will have to close when we out of food ... it bad when the food bank runs out of food.

Interesting reading M, thanks.

At the end it mentions interest rates coming down. Sadly that's not the case here in Aus. We've had several increases in interest rates over the last few months. It's hitting home-owners very hard. Our mortgage payments have gone up approx. $50 per fortnight (bi-weekly) over the last several months, over $100 per month. They are predicting another 3-4 rises over the year. The average mortgage here is more than twice of what we paid for our home (we bought at the right time!).
Many families are struggling to meet home payments, food and utility bills. Petrol (gas) prices are soaring too. It's tough on many.
Time to tighten the belt buckle another notch Rolling Eyes

It is truly sad Gayla, when the food banks run out...it is the last refuge for so many. I live only 10 miles from Denver but when I have to go there it is so different from where I live in the foothills....so many begging and sleeping in the parks in the coldest of nights.....and we certainly have a forclosure problem here....I heard of a support group forming for those facing forclosure.....we were thinking last year of buying a condo in our daughter's name so that she could have a little security as we grow older, but now we have to wait and stay put....

maybe this should be the next month challenge or eco help..or Im sure we could fit it in the postings somewhere,,lol...but maybe next month we all donate a small box of items to the food pantry.Sometimes I think we have it rough,,then I realize how lucky I am and how blessed I am.

We donate monthly to one of the food banks. Bailey is participating in a food drive and turning in the food tomorrow as a GA project. I have a bag here for it. I complain we have it bad but we never go hungry so I am willing to share what I have with others
