Hmmm....maybe we should've been putting a reminder up every week...lol.

If we want/decide to try this again next year maybe we'll do that! Smile
I can volunteer for posting a weekly reminder since I've stuck with it consistently (well...more or less... Laughing ).

Even one dollar per week throughout the year would get a nice treat or two by Christmas, it's fun rendeer

It is a lovely idea Skinflint! We have done this for years and it is such a nice way to save for "treat yourself" money. We do not put a specific amount in each week, but do put in all our change. Usually we cash it in in the fall and spring, but this year we are going to cash it in again for Christmas (today actually). There are two church bazaars this coming weekend that are an annual tradition for us, but things are so tight and we have no other extra money. We decided last week to cash our little change jar in and treat ourselves. The most fun of the day will be spending time with my Mom...my friend, but I know we will also enjoy having a few dollars and searching through the treasures.

Gayla, I wish we lived closer too, we would have so much fun!!!

Thanks Vicki! We are really looking forward to going Saturday, these two church bazaars are always so fun and festive, and a good way to start off the Christmas season.

Well, DH has asked me to go Christmas shopping with him today (Sunday), ....which means he wants me to 'help' him shop for my Christmas gift(s) from him! Rolling Eyes
I have given a few 'not so subtle' hints... Laughing ...but apparently further assistance is required! The funny thing is that I'm the only person he has to buy a gift for, I take care of EVERYONE elses!

Anyhow, I'm thinking it's now time to break into my 'Christmas Treat Jar' , I might see something that I wouldn't normally splurge on while we're out. DH doesn't really like to 'window shop' or 'browse' though so I might just take myself out on a little personal shopping spree tomorrow. I may treat myself to a new summer wardrobe...it's MY TREAT JAR!!! Razz
But....the frugal gal in me will still get as much for my saved money as I can...lol.
I'm excited.bounce

presents

Anyone else planned on what to do with theirs?

I didn't have one as all the money I saved it had to be used on other items. I can't wait to hear how you spent yours

Well...I FINALLY...got through my savings ,it took a few trips but I found LOTS of bargains! Wink

I got a preloved book and denim skirt at a thrift shop for only $4.50.

I got about 5 NEW tops at a large retail store, all were specials or drastically reduced but on the two separate occasions I bought them the store was having a 25% discount special on ladies clothing so I saved even more (about $60 saved) cheers
(3 were close to 1/4 of their original price!).

I got 3 NEW t-shirts at another store on clearance and some new undies (not reduced Laughing ).

I splurged on a NEW pair of leather mules (I usually buy cheaper ones) which were so comfy but also with 25% discount.

Finally, I treated myself to the 'Matrix' trilogy dvds, these were on special too, less than half-price!

PHEW...I think that was everything...I sure got a lot for my money...I'm definitely doing this again next year, it was like a game to see how much I could get for what I'd saved Very Happy Cheerleader

I can't wait to hear what everyone else got themselves with the money from their 'treat' jars?
