gave my living room a face lift for $4!!

I was really sick of my living room and was trying to figure out what one thing bothered me the most as we have NO $, I couldn't just go splurge and re-do the whole thing, even if I was frugal about it! So, I chose to re-do the trim work...I had paint in the cellar...it's a kinda tan & gray mix...a deep country color...so I painted the trim, windows sills (they are BIG and DEEP...old house) and the doors to the bathroom and a closet door (all old style doors ) it looks great! AND...I made curtains with fabric I had ( enough for one curtain & bought material for the other for $4) it's navy blue and tan gingahm, and I made them in a country style I saw in Better Homes and Gardens Country Decorating book (free from library) AND..I had DH make small rings from old coat hangers and I tied strips of fabric around it (looks so cool) and used them as candle rings in the window sills...AND....and making a new wall hanging with stitchery...all for free!! AND... I am going to make a big wall wreath out of the fabric strips and a garland of the same to go on top of my big mirror on the wall! I also got to hang 3 nice things up in there that match that my friend got me a long time ago! So...a WHOLE make-over ended up being $4!!!!!

Thats awesome Kim,,can you post some pictures in the portial of your makeover!?I am trying to decide what kind of curtain treatment to do in our living room/dining room when we remodel this fall.

Thanks ladies....I am making my other curtin today and hopefully finishing up my wall hanging, so I can work on the wreath and swag Smile

I will try to post pics when I'm all done...or maybe even today of the curtain I have done and the candle ring... I have tried to post pics before and it didn't work..my computer is junk...the good one is for the kids school...but I'll try!

Kim, you are just so talented. You could go on one of those shows on HGTV and show them how to do a frugal makeover.

Kim, I am so impressed with your talent and creativity to be able to do a makeover for $4.00. You really do know how to make your house into a warm and inviting home!

Thank you so much! I got it all done and love it! We also found some cool berries on the stems in the woods and I decorated with them as well! Smile
