Subject: BILLS..BILLS..BILLS!!! Fri 11 Jan 2008, 12:51 am

Sometimes I find January is harder to budget for than Christmas!

Those bills just don't let up... Rolling Eyes

Just got our annual home and contents insurance bill which was okay....

Now the quarterly electricity bill has arrived and I am shocked Shocked

It's over $600!!! Shocked

And I've been trying so hard to be careful, I don't know where I'm going wrong with this one, we don't even own a clothes dryer???
This requires some serious detection work on our part! scratch

That's roughly $200 per month confused

I know we use our air-conditioner more this time of year (summer) but not over-excessively.
DS thinks we're o.t.t. when explaining home expenses and being careful, he's a big culprit, he leaves lights on, monitors and t.v. etc on standby...unnecessary use of air-con...it's obvious he's not paying the bills! Rolling Eyes

This bill has been my biggest obstacle to reduce...it's just not happening...hmmm...

I know what you mean! We are sinking right now~ bills stink~LOL
Our electric bill is about $130 a month...around here that is ALOT! It's very frustrating~

Oh my. Our electric bill was $320.00 for this past month. Since our 50% increase it has been crazy. This time last year we were paying around $130-$150 a month. We don't have a dishwasher, I use cold water to wash but I am using the dryer as the clothes don't dry here in the winter when hung up

It is very hard Kim. I am not sure how we are going to get through this. I am dedicating myself to searching full time on how to save us money.

Wow, you have some hefty bills. Our bill just came and it's around $70.00, which is higher than usual, but we had a lot of Christmas lights on during the month.

I'm more worried about the heating bills. I'm hoping they come in below $300 a month. We've had unseasonably warm weather, so, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Our electric bill does include our heating. Our home is all electric. There is no solar or gas.

Wow Vicki, that's worse than mine!!!

I really struggle to reduce this bill.

We're all electric here also and there's not a lot of competition with suppliers in our state, it's very limited. It's a matter under investigation in this household...

Feeling your pain Vicki!! Our electric bill goes way up in the winter also and we do not have the heat set up very high, turn off lights, etc. I do have to run my clothes dryer for towels, sheets and 10 to 15 minutes for clothes before I hang them up. This week we got a $3,350.00 dental bill. Ouch, thank goodness they are letting us make payments, but it has to come out of grocery, etc. Whew....life is a challenge, isn't it?

I forgot that they discounted that dental bill a bit and marked off $400.00, but it is indeed shockingly enormous!!! Shocked

At least it is not me making us go into debt this time like usual, but my Mom. If it was my teeth I would be sooooo tempted to let it go (guess that would not work, sigh) , but we have to take care of my dear Mum's teeth. rabbit

WOW, Mary. I remember when I had dental bills like that. It really puts a hurting on your money. Now I have Rosa's college and my payments for that are $311.05 a month. IT never seems to end!

Those bills do have a way of coming and coming don't they Vicki and when things are tight already it gets difficult. We have a small emergency fund, but nothing that can compensate for a bill that large. I hope that you can find some answers for your budget!
