| I don't think it is much of a secret. We only have 2 people and I don't enjoy food (except chocolate). Every morning I eat a bowl of cereal (shredded wheat or honey bunches of oats. I never pay more than $1.50 a box. I buy nothing if it is not on sale usually with a coupon. That box will last 2 weeks. Milk I always buy when on sale and freeze. I never pay more than $2.50. If I don't have any frozen and it is not on sale, we go without til the next week. It is on sale at least every other week. For lunch, every day I eat pb&j and a piece of fruit. I buy my bread at the outlet store for $.50, pb on sale at $1 usually coupon makes it free or $.25 and we make homemade jelly and pumkin butter from our mulberry tree and garden. So a couple of buck will feed me for a couple of weeks of lunched. I buy whatever fruit is on sale. Dinner, normally I will cook the main 'dish' on Monday and have versions of that the rest of the week. Example: I will buy a whole chicken on sale for $3. On Monday I may just have chicken, mashed potatoes, and homemade rolls. Super cheap. Monday I shred the rest of the chicken. Tuesday will be chicken tacos (homemade seasoning, tortillas from the Mexican store $1/36. Wednesday will be chicken and dumplins (broth from cooking it Monday, and homemade dumplings.) Thursday will be chicken salad (just add mayo) with fruit. Friday, chicken and spaghetti, or fetticini (just cook the pasta, dump a little sauce(homemade from tomatoes from garden or white sauce homemade.) I have a stock pile so I don't usually have to go and buy anything to make additional meals. We don't go shopping often. I stock up on super double weeks, my store double to $.50 every day. I always buy on sale with coupon. I get many items free. I haven't paid for shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, aspirin, deoderant, etc in years. I get many free sample or FAR at Walgreens and CVS. I am not brand loyal. Oh and as for dh, he doesn't eat breakfast, lunch he usually eats a sandwich and dinner is whatever I put on the table. I don't buy cookies or dessert. I make everything at home. He puts up with my corks and isn't picky. He takes care of the garden and grows things he likes to eat. If I didn't answer any questions I'd be happy to. Let me know. _________________ [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

| | The problem with coupons is we don't need 3 or 4 of one item, especially if it is perishable. I used to use dozens of coupons a week, but find I rarely use them at all. Our stores in this area are very sneaky. If there is a coupon for the item, the store takes it off the shelf until the coupon expires. Then, we have to get a raincheck and remember that we have the raincheck to use once the item is back on the shelves. |

| | hmmm...I guess what I see with your shopping Escarcha is that you just don't eat alot of food. We eat so much food here, it seems. I need to think along the lines of maybe less variety and less food all together...hmm... |

| E, you are amazing. My question though: How could you not enjoy food? I wake up and the first thing I think about is what's for breakfast! On my drive to work, I think about what I want for lunch (if I'm going out). I love your idea about cooking something big on Monday and eating it throughout the week in different variations. Very clever. Thank you for sharing!
