| I'm soo upset right now, last month a dear friend's Mom passed away (at age 100!) as our families have been close for 2 generations and we live 800 miles away now, David and I decide to send flowers. The last few times I have sent flowers I've been very unhappy and decided to use a florist David has used in the past. I asked about a dish garden and was told the run in the $60-$75 range (I know this is absurd, but when you're far away your hands are tied). I just got my credit card bill and was billed for 93.75. When I called to question the amount the woman told the extra was taxes and delivery. When I explained the addional charges weren't quoted to me she apologised and said "we have to pay the delivery people and taxes" I was very upset and told her I won't do business with them in the future as this should have been quoted to me. I don't think this bothered her at all, while she wasn't rude she just said I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm fumming. What would you do? _________________ Dear Lord, help me remember how lucky I am on both the good and the bad days! |

| | I would call the better Business Bureau on her store and make a claim. She is advertising by not telling of hidden cost. |

| IMO, both the florist and you share equal responsbilities in this situation. There was miscommunication on both your parts .
I know it's the principal and I'm sure with receiving the news of the death, you weren't thinking clearly to ask if the price included fees. It was quite a shock when you received the bill, but I'm sure the family greatly appreciated your kindness and thoughtfulness. I think once you calm down and have a better perspective on the situation, you will realize that $93.75 is not a high price to pay for the 2 generations of history you share with this family.
I think as a good will gesture, the florist could have offered you a gift certificate , a free floral display or even taken 5% off the bill, but since that didn't happen, then:
Buyer beware...you've learned a valuable lesson. |

| this is a tricky one...when I ahve called about flowers long distance I called a local florist or coffe shop what ever I was sending and had them do it locally...it was cheaper and worked better. Sorry that happened to you |

| I've called for flowers to be sent before, but always make sure I ask for the delivery charges.
Many times, they are about $15 or more! Yikes!

| I agree with the other ladies that it was an unfortunate lesson learned.
I would write a letter of complaint though, letting them know how upset you feel about not being quoted for the extra charges. Put it in writing and keep a copy. _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| Thank you all for your opinions, I did use a local florist and one that was reccomended. The deleivery charge of $15 was for a funeral home on the same street as the florist. I ended up filing a complaint with the BBB. I did so because the woman I spoke to at the florist said the other clerk should have quoted me the deleivery charge and taxes and was sorry these charges were omitted. In retrospect I'm sorry I hadn't thought of sending a donation to charity in her name, and will do this in the future. Thank you again, just venting made me feel better! _________________ Dear Lord, help me remember how lucky I am on both the good and the bad days! |

| | It's nice to hearyou're feeling better, Teri. I'm glad you made the complaint to the BBB. At least this will put the florist on notice so this doesn't happen to anyone else. |
