| I started last week by having a bit of a clearout in the bathroom vanity. In one cupboard I keep two rectangular baskets (because there are no drawers in our vanity unit), one for myself and one for DH & DS to share. I had a quick clearout of old/expired items that weren't going to be used and wiped out the cupboard. Then I took an old toothbrush into the shower to scrub the tile grout before havine a shower _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| Here are 2 ideas for linen closets
RE: Organizing a Linen Closet Post By Jill (Guest Post) (09/05/2006) I like to organize my linens by room (I.e. guest room, master, kids). I take the top sheet and pillow cases, and fold them inside the bottom sheet. The problem is all of the different sizes. I live in San Diego and I just saw an article in SD home about this great new product that looks like it should work great. The article is by Harriet Schechter who writes some really helpful hints. This article is not on-line but you can check out the product at www.kangaroomstorage.com
RE: Organizing a Linen Closet Post By Sparky (Guest Post) (01/22/2005) Vacuum sealing large comforters, blankets & pillows are a great space-saving idea. Plus, they are compact enough to store one on top of the other. Making sure they all are labeled & that if you have wire shelves, it is a good idea to put a towel down first. This makes it easy to take them on & off without pucturing the bag. The large garbage bags can easily be used with a vacuum to suck out the air & then using rubberbands to secure each bag. It will save you from buying the "Space Bags" _________________ Vicki

| I don't have a linen closet as such, I do keep my bathroom towels folded tidily in the central vanity cupboard. We have an extractor fan and have never had a problem with steam, I alway leave the bathroom door open after the showers been used also (our toilet is not in the bathroom, but right beside it, very convenient!). However, in Ireland, I did store my towels in a cupboard just outside the bathroom which also contained our hotwater tank, they were always nice and warm _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| I did the cabinet that fits behind the toilet today as it was very easy to. I forgot to take a before picture so this is the after. I used a small shoe box (from Bailey) to store all my samples and trial size items.
I will check under our sink but I don't think I need to do anything there.
I did take a picture of my linen closet that is next to the bathroom. I will be working on that this month.
Not sure if I will be doing the girl's bathroom or not. _________________ Vicki

| This link has some good tips to get started:
http://interiordec.about.com/od/hintsandtips/ht/ht_organizebath.htm
Vicki, I'd read a tip for organizing bathroom accessories for kids. It was to give each of them different coloured crates or trays for store their individual items in. I thought it was helpful. That way it's easy to identify who owns what. _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| Thanks Donna I'd bought them ages ago to sit on the bottom shelf of a bookcase. The bookcase ended up in DS's bedroom so I utilized the baskets in the bathroom. With the handle cut-outs they're easy to slide in and out to remove or replace anything used.
Also Donna, I viewed another bathroom article where they'd wall mounted two tall mirror doored bathroom cabinets side-by-side. These really brightened the room and provided double use as mirrors, obviously, but also as individual storage units. Bathroom wall cabinets are quite shallow as well but provide great storage.
Another tip I read was using decorative wall pots (originally designed for plants) as useful storage. There's a huge range available, terracotta ones could be painted to match a colour scheme or even stencilled! _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| I found this article interesting:
http://www.wikihow.com/Keep-a-Clean-Toothbrush
I always knew to keep toothbrushes away from the toilet (luckily ours is now separate to the bathroom) but I'd always stored them together in one container. I am planning on getting a suction holder with individual clamps for each toothbrush to stick on the inside door of the vanity. I like to have as little as possible sitting around 'on show' in the bathroom. It looks less cluttered and makes it easier to clean. _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| My sink top is cluttered with the kids mouthwash, dh's mouthwash, bottle of hand soap, bailey has a cup with her toothbrushes in it and lil Darin has one with his in it. Maybe I can figure out a way to organize our medicine cabinet and get them off the sink to make it look neater. _________________ Vicki

| Vicki, I have a little square basket inside which I keep mouthwash, just recently the toothbrushes & paste in a holder, and a cotton bud container. I just move the basket when I want to clean under it, very quick and tidy _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |
