| Subject: Sty/Stye remedies? Thu 25 Oct 2007, 8:23 am | |
| I've had a sty/stye coming up on my eye for the past few days (since our plane trip) and it's very red and irritating now. I've searched the internet for home remedies as I've been getting these occasionally now (makes a change from mouth ulcers!). There are quite a lot of varied suggestions out there, I'm certainly not trying the baby pee Tonight I'm going to try the warm teabag, these are supposed to be good for puffy eyes also. Another suggestion was rubbing a warmed gold ring directly on the sty/stye.
Anyone tried a home remedy that works? _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| I use to get those nasty things all the time when I was a kid. One was so bad, I ended up in the emergency room because my eye wouldn't open. I lost some of my bottom eye lashes because of it.
My mother used to put hot tea bags on the sty. They had to be as hot as I could stand it. Warm tea bags won't work because you have to draw the infection out of the sty to relieve the pressure.
Good luck. I know how they hurt. |

| Thanks Sissy, the 'warm' teabag didn't really seem to help although it was very relaxing/refreshing as I lay down and popped them on both eyes and listened to music. I probably should've tried a HOT teabag instead. It leaves my eye very sticky, itchy and red, I bathed it this morning with a cotton ball soaked in HOT water which gave short relief....grrrrrr.... I may have to just ride it out....probably take a week or TWO to clear up again...*SIGH* _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| Well, it hasn't gone but bathing it with cotton balls soaked in hot water seemed to have brought it to a head, thankfully so hopefully it will start to clear up soon. I had to put eye make-up on last night to go to a DH's annual referee dinner but I was extra careful and 'underdid' it...lol. Didn't seem to hurt any thankfully _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |
