| I read this on ideabite.com.Its about what the labels will say on eco meat labels and what they mean.(I wasnt sure where to post this,,under food or going green.)Either way I thought it was good info to have for organic food buyers and for greenies!
 Organic:animals get acess to the outside,pasture time and bedding materials and they arent injected with hormones(will also say "hormone free meat") or antibiotics.
Cage free:Poultry -birds_ arent kept in cages.
Free range:animals are given acess to the outdoors.
Pasture raised:same as free range but the animals graze.
Humanly raised:Animals are in cages but are big enough to move around and they get to go outdoors.
If you go to the www.meatrix1.com site..you will see how alot of this comes into play and is better for the animal,,your meat,,to be heathier. |

I buy cage-free eggs (from cage-free chickens that is!!)...they're only cents more than the regular large eggs I used to buy.
I'd love to get free-range/cage-free chicken (I'm not ready to be a vegetarian yet...I love my chicken & turkey, too much!!  ) but I haven't found it in my regular supermarket yet...and well, I haven't looked or even focused on it at Whole Foods (I don't go to Whole foods market as much as the regular market).
Baby steps, I guess!!!!

| When I go to green sites I learn so much.Such as organic gardening uses 30%less energy than factory farms for the same yield.
Also the more we go to organic eco meat,the more producers will change their ways.
at the www.eatwellguide.org site,,you can type in your zip code and it will come up with local farmers for meat and veggies. I was shocked to find out theres 42 farmers in a 50 mile radius of my home!(That are organic) |

I've noticed lots of new labelling on the eggs at work, one states 'Barn Laid'...there are so many it can be confusing.
