Cheap cat food is bulked up with large quantities of filler, which increases the quantity and stench of feline waste products. Higher quality cat food will improve your indoor air quality while reducing your feline maintenance chores.
Buy"natural" unscented cat litter, and change the cat's litter box frequently. Cats do not like using dirty litter boxes and may begin seeking more pleasant venues such as potted plants or secluded closets if the litter box is not cleaned regularly.
Housebreak the puppy and clean up accidents immediately with an enzyme cleaner. A smelly house can be quite confusing for a puppy. If the house smells the same as his yard it may be impossible to housebreak the animal. An odoriferous pile of teenagers clothing on the floor may also confuse puppy.

Avoid using unvented natural gas, propane or kerosene space heaters
Keep your gas or propane furnace in good working order
Turn on stove fan when you are cooking to vent out smoke and grease. The kitchen will stay cleaner and so will your lungs
If you burn wood have the chimney and wood stove or fireplace inspected and cleaned annually
Do not let your car idle in an attached garage.
Avoid burning incense indoors. A single stick of burning incense can push the concentration of fine particulate matter well into the danger level.
Burning candles can give your home a romantic air. Make sure that your air is still safe to breathe by choosing candles carefully. natural beeswax candles are the safest as well as the most delightfully fragrant.
Oil Lamps produce large amounts of soot so they may not be a good idea in a very tightly sealed home. If you must use oil lamps choose lamp oil that is free of synthetic perfumes and fragrances.
Air fresheners that plug into electrical outlets efficiently pollute the air with volatile organic compounds.
And last but not least quit smoking or at least smoke outdoors.
