| it's:
CLOTH NAPKINS!!
Yup, cloth napkins. everyone should be using 'em. no excuses about having too much laundry already, nobody has more laundry than me, and I have cloth napkins, and do not mind them at all!!! i stocked up on about 65 cream-colored cloth napkins at least 6 months ago, and I cringe everytime I see a pkg. of disposable napkins. I will only use them for parties from now on.
How many here already use 'em? it is of course a pretty frugal thing to do anyway. and how many here need to purchase them & start using them consisantly? Check out ebay or thrift stores for them...even clearance areas in Walmart or Target. and yard sale season is coming up. Soon you will have a nice collection of them so you will never run out. who cares if they match?? it's nice if they do (on the dinner table) but is definitely not necessary. It is one of those habit-forming things to get used to, but easy to get used to, and cuts down on paper waste in the land fills. Try it!! you'll like it!! _________________

| | I never thought of using cloth napkins for every day use. We only use them during the holidays. I have some that match our placements, but I've never used them. I'll give it a try. |

| We don't use napkins, cloth or disposable! I used to have one pack of the disposable type but they sat in my pantry for YEARS, they only ventured out if we were having an outdoor BBQ and friends were round but even then most people didn't bother with them. So I don't seem to need them in any shape or form _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| | We dont do napkins either except for parties,,which are usually paper ones that match the reason of the party,,,but I have stocked up on kitchen cloths and towels,,so we have cut way back on our paper towel issues. |

| yes, Donna...I was presuming that you used paper towels~ My niece does the same so she doesn't need to buy napkins.
I actually buy one roll of paper towels (lasts a long time) so I can use it to "blot" the grease off of the top of my slice of pizza~ sounds goofy but i hear that it does decrease the fat a bit. & doing that would definitely stain my cloth napkins.
Maybe by using a few cloth napkins, you can cut down on the amount of paper towels you use? just a thought! _________________

Usually when we eat we use cutlery, not our hands Also, when I aim for my mouth, my accuracy in hitting the target is close to 100%, impressive huh?
p.s. If we have pizza as take-out, isn't licking your fingers afterwards the icing on the cake? For a final touch (if required) there's soap, water and a towel (the terry variety!).
Using paper towels is pretty much the same thing as using disposable serviettes/napkins, IMHO _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| I use paper towels for spills, clenaing TV screens, windows etc.. We use on an average 1 or less roll a week. We also use them as plates for sandwiches, toast, pizza etc... Is it worse to use more water and detergent or paper towels? _________________ Vicki

| I reckon the less disposable 'stuff' we use, the better
1 roll of paper towel would last us 1-2 months. DS uses it mostly when heating pizza or garlic bread in the microwave to absorb any grease.
I use a special window cloth/chamois for cleaning glass and mirrors (it just needs to be dampened although occasionally I'll use glass cleaner), then wash it when necessary. Sorry, that's straying _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |
