| A good friend of mine from my old job (large hardware chain) entered a competition the company ran for all staff to enter to show how they're being environmentally friendly at home. She's not a confident public speaker (although she did this at my farewell send-off, bless her) but she starred in her own homemade video, her DH did the camera work and her DS edited everything. One of her chickens played a starring role also. She NEVER buys new clothes for herself, everything comes from thrift stores, she recycles as much as possible (I told you about the tote bag she's crocheting from breadbags!). They have chooks (chickens!), she's restarted her veggie garden, they volunteer and work with environmental organizations spare time permitting, she loves crafting and so much, much more, a beautiful and kinder person would be hard to meet. Anyway, she emailed me last week saying she'd gotten a phone call from head office saying she was in the finals! She had to fly to Melbourne (I think), her first time on a plane in 22 years and give a little speech about her video. I received an email when she got back safely....well she WON the competition. Her DH and herself win a weekend away at some lovely resort and I can't wait to hear all about it when I meet her for coffee on Tuesday. I'm so pleased for her _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| Ah, so glad to hear about your friend, Skin. We are more attentive to being "Green" than ever before because my husband is teaching an environmental class (a new class for this college) and he brought home the movie, 'An Inconvenient Truth' plus the book of the same name - this is a very sobering presentation of the things we can expect very soon if global warming is not slowed down but it does also explains what is being done to help and what needs yet to be done...I highly recommend it to everyone, including children as long as parents watch it with them and use it as a very important learning experience...... _________________ Love is a fruit, in season at all times and within the reach of every hand.
