Today ,in our local paper, they had a article about the recession comming and how its affecting food cost and other price hikes.I am so trying to stock up on things,,but at the same time its hard just to have the necessary items on hand.

The article said that eggs have gone up 39 % from Febuary of 07.Also milk and flour has gone up too. These were in the 30% also,,just cant remember the exact amount.

It makes me happy that we are frugal and on the same page(hubby and I) with penny pinching.Theres been articles on ABCnews.com about how you can save 800 a month,,so I watched them pick through this family of 4 to help them. They were eating McDonalds 3 times a week, the husband bought a new video game twice a month,,they never used coupons, only name brand items. The kicker was they never spoke with each other on bills,,how much each was spending on lil extras a week.
It really surprises me how it isnt obvious how to cut back,,where they spend too much(video games should have been the first thing on that guys list!)

Our mortgage payments have now increased by approx $100 per month over the last few months of interest rate rises. I feel sorry for anyone with a larger mortgage than us, it's pretty bad, many people here are losing their homes. I may have to increase my working hours again Sad

The news had a segment on people bringing in their pets to adoption centers or the pound. They said they are losing their home or becomming homeless and cant take the pets or the newplace wont allow pets. It seems to be effecting more than just people!

use less convince food .. Donna
I teach them how to make frugal meals that are good for you . I help to young ladies from the church today make dress how roast chicken , myo baking mix myon cornmeal mix -
I show them homemade mac & chese , teach about meatless meals about fruits vegetables
This year Frank and the boys are plowing up 25 acres for a commmunity garden you have to work to get vegetables .
I teach according to skill ..

I was amazed when one girl didnt know how long to boil eggs or how to make deviled eggs .. she smiled so sweetly and said you can buy them ( 6 egg halves for $2.50) I almost flipped

now in a few weeks I will teach a canning class to more experienced cooks
then I teach a class on how to help feed you family with WIC.
One lady today at the food bank asked if you had to bring your own food I told her no she said when do teach biscuit I said when ever ..

I done this for years
