| | This fall,,hubby and I will start a new project and thats remodeling the bathroom. Its our only bathroom, our home is 3 bedroom and 1bath.We saw a show on home improvement television that installed a walk-in shower. It was the width of the tub,,so pretty. We take showers only,,rarely baths. To do this to the remodeling,,(taking the old tub out and installing a big walk-in shower),do you think this would add to the value of the house..or hurt it.Such as hurt the re-sale of it because of no tub,,just the walk in.This would have the large size tiles on the walls,,not a tub surround,a place to sit.You can really tell I want this,,lol,,,but I also can have patience and wait till we buy land and build.(a future plan we share!) |

| I personally would buy a house with a tub because of the kids. Most small children do baths and not showers. So I would say wait. _________________ Vicki

| I like my hot baths in the winter and warm showers in the summer. In our next house, I would like a separate shower stall.
Vicki made a good point about having a tub for children. Personally, I would want both. |

| If you're planning on reselling in the future, I would keep the bath otherwise you'd limit yourself to buyers who have a preference for showers only. Many people who mostly shower still like to relax in a bath occasionally and also as Vicki pointed out, baths are popular with families. When we remodelled our bathroom we moved the vanity and baths to opposite walls and changed to a corner spa-bath (very nice in the winter). We changed to a double-vanity which has proved quite useful as we also all share one bathroom. Re-arranging made the room appear bigger than it was with the previous layout. If it was an en-suite you were remodelling I'd say 'go for it' but if it's the home's main bathroom I'd be cautious. A lot depends on how long you plan on staying in the house after all it's your home and your choice really. We always consider how remodelling and renovating would affect future resale. _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| I'd have to agree with everyone. We have 2 bathrooms, one with a tub and one just a shower. When listing your house for sale they consider a bathroom with a shower and no tub as a 3/4 bathroom. But if you are going to be there awhile, I'd do what makes you happy. On the flip side, you can make a shower only bathroom handicap accessible which might appeal to a different market. _________________ [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

| | hmmmm....I can't imagine not having a tub...but my sister has one of each in her house and it was appealing to them...I would say to do what makes you happy...it's your house! Whatever you decide make sure it's what you and your DH would be happiest with!!! |

| I love the idea of a walk in shower! Friends just put one in and I'm green with envy. Theirs has a nice seat and 2 shower heads, one is on a flexible hose , it would be sooo great for shaving my legs! I say got for it! _________________ Dear Lord, help me remember how lucky I am on both the good and the bad days! |
