| It went up to $3.09 here - but back down to $2.99. Even to fill up my 11 gallon tank was $30.00 the other day. The Feds lower the prime rate, which lowers my savings account rate, and raises gas prices. No wonder why the economy is having such a hard time right now. There is no stability! ~M _________________ "It is not how much money you make - it is how you spend it."

| | I am starting to get worried about the way our economy is heading...things are not good. Are we looking at another depression coming or do you think people will just use plastic to get what they want? |

| Didn't pay attention yesterday but on Friday paid $2.78. Will look when I go out today.
We were talking about things the other day and we too said it looked as though we were heading towards another depression era. We were already struggling trying to make ends meet and using plastic to stay ahead. Not sure what is going to happen now. In the 4 years we moved back here our house has gone from $1100.00 to $1600.00, gas prices have risen, electric took a 75% increase and grocery prices have risen but our pay has not changed. We have also added another vehicle to our insurance and Rosa's college tuition. It has really gotten scary. _________________ Vicki

| Kim, I think that the middle and lower class are being hit the worst right now (just like the Depression). Am I worried about a depression? Yes. Is it likely to happen? Probably not. I think that things will remain as they are for the next year, and we all have to sustain living as frugally as we can I think that when there is a new President in office, our economy will once again start to thrive. Of course, this is just my opinion. Luckily, we are all one step up from most - trying to live as frugal as we can, supporting one another, and learning from one another. ~M _________________ "It is not how much money you make - it is how you spend it."

| Now is the time to use the knowledge we all have and have learned,,,being frugal. Its hard to make ends meet when you dont have enough money to cover them in the first place,,thats why,,we cut out extras in cable,,cells phones,,TRYING to not order out as much..and cutting corners every where we can.
Its like a diet,,it will only work if you are determined to make it work...if not,,then your back to square one! |

| We found gas yesterday for 2.92,,put 50.00 in the truck which almost filled it up. Anyone have a gas credit card?I saw at a Marathon gas station,,gas was almost 10cents cheaper a gallon if you used thier gas credit card.Do you get charged alot for that card?If not I think it would be worth it to get the credit card |

| | all I can say is WOW!!!! I am so thankful we live the way we do. I am also glad that my daughter is learning from me how to make the most out of what you have. This will be important for her. While I was sick last weekend (Sunday)...at age 7 she fed the boys breakfast, snack and lunch...cleaned the bathroom, swept the kitchen, cleaned the toybox, and entertained the oys (2 five yr olds!! ) with great success...and without the help of fnacy cleaners and microwave meals...it's important that the kids learn how to live life without all the "fancy" things, so they will know how to get by if they can't afford them. |

| Kim that is great that she is learning so young. Rosa and Rachel do well but my son, Bailey and DH have no clues! Is was an eye awakening experience yesterday for dh when he went to the store with me yesterday and we had $80.00 to spend to get dog food, cat food, shampoos, sanitary items for all 3 of us big girls and dinners, lunch and breakfast for this week. _________________ Vicki

| Gas prices have risen over 8 cents a gallon since last Thursday. The most expensive I've seen is #3.23 per gallon. We're paying around $3.13 per gallon as of this morning. I'm sure by the time I go home, it will be more money.
Donna - good point. This is why we're being frugal and need to implement all that we've learned more than ever. |
