| Almost 2 weeks ago I decided to do grocery shopping every 2 weeks. So out I went and I spent $293.00 including filling the van up with gas, all groceries, all household items, all pet products.. I mean everything. I have not been back to the store since. I deducted the gas and figured my total spent averaged $119.00 a week and my average was $200.00 - $250.00. I was so shocked and as of today I still have enough food for another week but Saturday I will head back out with my list for another 2 week shopping trip. On this trip though there will be no gas purchase because I had to buy gas last night _________________ Vicki |

| | What made the difference in your shopping? Was it buying bulk or more items on sale and stocked up..etc?Id like to get to the point of once a month shopping except for dairy and bread. |

| Well lets see. I spent several days scouring the flyers from the 4 local stores, searching thru my coupons, and searching frugal recipes. I actually forgot and left my coupons at home so it would have been less. I was shocked as I had run out of so much and my cupboards were bare. I was expecting at least $400.00. There were some really good deals that week is the only way I can explain it.
Gas was $57.00
Pet food was $8.00
In addition to the food I purchased 8 roll bounty, 12 roll charmin, ammonia,CFL light bulbs, bleach, borax, freezer bags, washing soda, fels naptha, trashbags, baking soda, conditioner, allergy elixer, nite light bulbs, anti itch cream, shave gel, and 10lbs boneless skinless chicken breast.
I have to admit I spent about 4 1/2 hours out at the stores but to me it was worth it. I didn't buy anything that wasn't on sale unless I needed it. I worked on my list for this Friday and I am hoping I can drop it more or at least stay the same. _________________ Vicki |

| Wow Vicki, that's an amazing saving! You pretty much halved your grocery bill! Way to go
Another bonus is the time you've saved also by doing 2 weeks worth in one hit. You do need to be pretty organized to achieve this though. Great job Vicki. _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| Vicki - Great Job!
Do you have a Save-A-Lot or Aldi's nearby?
As I've mentioned before, it is now really difficult for me to spend $0.99 on a can of corn when I know I can get it at Aldi's for $0.49. Even a loaf of bread there is $0.69 and at the store $0.99 on sale.
Some people are completely against shopping at these types of stores, but it really has saved Todd and I alot of money. I am glad he likes those stores as much as I do. All we buy at a "real" store is meat (only when it's on sale and buy lots of it to last for months), and anything else that SAL does not carry (Todd's alergy pills, pain killers, bathroom supplies, etc.). The same frozen pizza at Giant Eagle (same brand and everything) is $2.00 more than Save-A-Lot. $4.99 vs. $2.99. Give me the $2.99 any day.

| M...we love the Aldi store. I shop there most of the time, but DH is farming as well as working his normal job so we have been unable to go and my wallet can tell!
Great job Vicki! It sounds like you put ALOT of thought and work into it! I am really impressed and inspired! I want to do better too! |

| | That's amazing. Good job. I love Aldi's. The prices are so reasonable and the food is good. Coupons still aren't helping me cut the grocery bill because it doesn't pay me to buy 3 or 4 of an item, especially if it's perishable. |

| That's a great idea Donna if you can pull it off. I've had those intentions before also but somehow they soon slip.... _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |
