Our stores mark down meat daily, but I have noticed recently that some of the beef markdowns have been too high even at 50% off....sheesh.....

I dont remember if anyone here freezes milk (Escarcha, I think you said you do), but I've been trying it, and it tastes the same as if it were fresh!

I have been buying milk on sale at $2.69/gallon, and getting 3 of them at a time. It lasts for the entire month.
The only problem we have is that it takes so long to thaw out, so you get some ice crystals, which I like, but Todd does not so much like the crunchy milk. It's good with ice crystals when you have freshly baked warm muffins from the oven. :-) Yummy.

Gayla is right. We just shake it a little, but the ice doesn't bother dh or me.
Donna, just remember to take a little out before you freeze because it does expand.

I went to an Aldi's today on my way home from the hospital I loved it. I have decided we will go there on payday. Down the street is a shoppers food warehouse, target and few other stores. I figure it won't cost that much in gas for the savings. Milk was $1.00 cheaper a gal.

I spent $59.59

case of ramen noodles
4 Aldi bags
loaf white bread
pkg cheese slices
english muffins
2 pkg of flavored noodles and sauces
plastic wrap
bouillon cubes
3 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast
ready to serve bacon
1 lb lunchmeat
6 pounds 80% ground beef
(3) flavored carbonated water
24 pkgs drink mixes (generic koolaid)
qt strawberries
1 lg box poptarts
1 reg box poptarts
12 pk toilet paper
bag chicken nuggets
laundry detergent
cooking spray
large box nonfat dry milk ($12.99 compared to $15.99 at Foodlion)

Thoise are good deals Vicki.I am tring to go montly,,but once every 2 weeks is doing ok so far.I liked SAL more than Aldis but lately SAL meat and some other issues have us only wanting ot go there for canned goods and a few sales,You cant beat their prices on canned goods. Also we like Wonder bread the best,,and it can cost so much more,,so,,the bread store is the next on the stop. Then so far the store for the bulk of things so far seems to be krogers. It sounds like alot of places but we plan it as a round trip,,hitting each one on the way!

Vicki,
I'm glad you liked it!
Do you think you could go there and shop for 2 weeks?
How long will the items you got last?

I used to like SAL alot better; however, I've noticed their prices going up, up, up... to the point that I could have bought things at the grocery store cheaper than they had it (ketchup, for example).

But now, we are pretty much strictly Aldi's shoppers for the discount stores, and then sales and coupons from the others.

I have to go grocery shopping today - I noticed that Aldi's has a great selection of produce. Because I am going to try to eat healthy from here on out, I think I'll have to go back to the grocery shopping every 2 weeks. At least, until our garden comes in. They have onions (3# bag for $0.89 here), and potatoes are generally pretty inexpensive there (for Squiggy). Even mushrooms, if I remember correctly, they are only $0.99/container. And they have the exotic fruits too like mangos and plantains.

Also, their stuffed flounder is awesome for a nice inexpensive meal. We also get their roaster chickens for $0.65/lb, and put it in the crockpot while we're at work. Yummy.
