| Actually my family would be ok...except for Rob's work...our church is about 5 miles away...and town is about 10 or 15...we allready live more old fashioned than most, I guess. Ash even asked if we could wear dresses exclusivly..lol...I think because she's addicted to Little House and the books... kids are too funny.... The only set back we'd have is I am VERY afraid of horses...lol...Rob grew up owning horses and rode all his life...Ash wants one..both kids love to ride...but mommy's a chicken! LOL... |

| I would wear dresses all the time. I love Little House on the Prairie but Lil Darin is the only other one who enjoys it. I would have loved to live like that. Call me crazy!! My kids do! LOL. Wish I could find some long dresses I liked and I would wear them all the time. I really wish I could sew! _________________ Vicki |

| I know what you mean Vicki...we love that way of life too...simple...we try to impliment all that we can now in this day. There is something about wearing dresses that makes you feel more femenine...and gentle...I helped build a chicken coop in dresses...garden in them...everything... But I do wear jeans in the winter as it is so cold..lol...
Vicki,,,have you tried to get Bailey to watch little house? That age ....I would think she should be getting close to thinking Laura is cool...maybe let her dress up to watch it? |

| I was just re-reading some old magazines before I give them away, here's some tips from Women's Day 06/19/07; 1) Rethink the list, if you stick too close to your list you may miss money savings sales, instead arrange your list in terms of meals vs. individual items. 2) Shop at more than one store, sticking to one will make you miss lower priced items at other stores, but know what you need and the prices of those items. 3) Check out mark downs, many stores do daily markdowns at a certain time each day, others mark down vegetabes and meat on the same day each week dur to delivery schedules. 4) Avoid emergency runs, convience stores charge inflated prices and even running out twice a month can cost you $10 - $30 dollars extra per month. To avoid this make a list of the ten meals your family eats most often and make sure you have those ingrediants on hand. Post the list in a place you see often. If you do run out improvise, serve fruit juice instead of milk, one day is not going to ruin your health. 5) Make "Planned Overs" for example cook extra chicken to get several different meals for the week. 6)Check unit prices, big isn't always better, manufactors take advantage of the expectation that large sizes cost less per portion. (Also, if you have a small family like mine, throwing out what goes stale or bad isn't thrifty) &) If you must take your kids to the store, train them to be smart shoppers, one way to do this is to give the child 2-5 dollars and allow them to pick out anything not on the list, they'll soon learn to make wise choices.
I know we do most of these things but it was good to re-read these tips. _________________ Dear Lord, help me remember how lucky I am on both the good and the bad days! |

| Todd and I just got done with our "once a month" spree. We got ALOT of food. We bought a turkey this trip, a roaster chicken, 6 small hams, 5 lbs of ground turkey and the rest is canned/boxed goods. We still have 50 lbs of chicken breast in the freezer from several months ago, 1 roaster chicken, 8 lbs of ground turkey and 10 lbs of pork chops from the last trip.
We still came right to $160.00 on this trip. That included paper plates, lunch baggies, storage bags, and paper towels (12 rolls). We spent about $20 on Squiggy's snacks (50 lbs of potatoes (Todd and I will use some as well for home-made french fries, baked potatoes, hashbrowns), 2 boxes of sugar-free Cheerios, dog chews and buscuits from the dollar store to last the month).
What I'm really proud of is that we went thru 4 stores in an hour and a half! This time wasnt so time-consuming with hubby. We were on a schedule because we had our "date" lunch & movie to go to.
