M...sounds like you did great for your first coupon experience. I also do what Gayla does and take out the coupons that match sale items or that I know I am definitely buying and put those in a smaller envelope. Great job!

We will see how it goes this morning.
I matched the coupons up by store, so I wouldnt forget any of the items.
I think it will be practice makes perfect.

I am so excited to go this morning to go shopping before work. But I'm running late! ACK! I'll let you know how it goes.

I asked Freecycle to give me any coupons they dont use : I think that will help as well. We'll see the responses to that request in the next few days.

PS, there is a man in the area who is well known for his coupon skills.
I am thinking about going to one of his free classes near where I work. It is a 2 hour seminar.

I was running too late to go to the store today. :-(
It will have to wait until tomorrow morning.

I went grocery shopping this morning at Giant Eagle before work. They didnt have the diced tomatoes (organic) that would have been free! DOH!

But, with everything, I still got 47% off.

My goal is to one day, get 80%+ off of my shopping trip.

As I've said before, I know it will take time and experience to be able to accomplish that.

M...you did an excellent job. It is very frustrating when they are out the the items you'd get for free.
Kim...I belong to several coupon trains so I send all the ones I won't use on to the next person, luckily some don't want the ones I do so I can stock up on ones that we use.

M...47% is very impressive!

Does the store do a raincheck with any items that are out of stock?
(i.e. they'll honour the special when they have it again).

Skin,
I didnt even think about rain checks for Giant Eagle. I did get one from our local market that had lunchmeat on sale but didnt have the lunchmeat. When it comes in, it will be $0.80/lb.

I could go back to Giant Eagle before work someday next week. The sale is good thru Wednesday, I think it was. Thank you for reminding me!

With the $1.00 smoked sausage I got, I made a huge batch of jumabalay. Enough for two meals with several servings as leftovers for Todd when he is home Monday and Tuesday. But... dont tell him this, I didnt use the whole smoked sausage. I only used half! And there is plenty of meat in it to give it the flavor needed. SO... I was planning on making another batch next month. :-) The cost for tonight's meal: $0.50/sausage, 2 boxes of jumbulaya rice mix $0.49 each. $1.50 total for about 10 servings. AND, I have enough sausage (and rice) to make a batch next month.

I've been trying to get Todd into the habbit of putting half of what we make in a tupperware container and in the freezer. He made a huge pot of chili the other day for dinner. I'm used to chili with elbow macaroni in it. I told him about it the next day, and he went to the store, made a whole box of macaroni and put it in the chili. There is so much now! I have a big container at work for lunches next week, a big container in the fridge for 2 dinners of 2 big portions, and a little container for Todd to eat on his days off next week.

Plus, we really like BLT's. I got bacon on sale for $1.00/lb with double coupons and a sale last week. He made up the bacon for BLT's for dinner, and I asked him to put half in the freezer for next month. And sure enough, he did. If bacon was just laying around in the fridge, we both would grab a piece for a snack here and there... and before you know it. It's gone! So, this is to help prevent that. And it's working!!!!

Kim,
I didnt realize that I forgot to respond to your message about the coupons being for items you dont use. I used to think the same thing.

For me, I use the coupons when I can get items CHEAPER than I can get from SAL or Aldi's. That is what I look for.
