| I read in a readers digest book,,thatsome people have a ICE box...which stands for In case Of Emergency,,like in a disaster type emergency.I have asmall box with some first aid in in,,which I am hoping to get more stocked and prepared better with,,but I was thinking of creating a I C E box.I was wondering if any of you have one or something like it.
The article said,,things prepareed for living when a terrosit attak happens or you have to evacuate your home,,etc.Would have never thought we would need to do this till 9/11 happened.
If you do have a ICE box created,,what do you have in yours. |

| There are regular T.V. adds here in Queensland telling people to be prepared in case of storms. They advise keeping a box available with torches, candles, emergency phone numbers and a battery operated radio to receive updates. Obviously that's a very basic preparation kit but could easily be built upon. _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| | We had an emergency box for a few years. Included bottled water which was replaced regularly, canned goods, batteries, medical items, blankets, etc. I've been thinking we need to rebuild. |

| My sister is the director of a regional hospital in rural Cape Bretton Nova Scotia. They have a program where a small plastic box in placed in the refrigerator on the top shelf on the right hand side (yes, it's that specific). In the box are copies birth certificates, doctors' names, prescriptions, blood type, living trust, people to call in an emergency, etc. This program was initiated to assist in the home care of chronically ill and elderly patients and now is advertised for all people. Just think of how helpful this information would be if you were hurt and unable to answer questions. _________________ Dear Lord, help me remember how lucky I am on both the good and the bad days! |

| I received an email a few days ago suggesting that we put ICE as a name on our mobile phone with the number of who you'd like contacted In Case of Emergency. Often people have accidents and there may be a list of names with numbers on their mobile phones but emergency workers don't know which one they need to contact...a good idea! _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| I would like to suggest that your "important papers" be copies and the originals be in a safety deposit box or waterproof/fireproof safe box, that way if during an emergency the copies got damaged the originals would be in a safe place (hopefully!) The most important pieces of infromation are the deed numbers, court case numbers, ID numbers, etc so that they can be retrieved via the gov't, bank or pharmacy. _________________ Dear Lord, help me remember how lucky I am on both the good and the bad days! |
