RESURRECTION ROLLS

Ingredients You’ll Need:

1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
Melted butter or margarine
Large marshmallows
Cinnamon
Sugar

Supplies and Equipment You’ll Need:
Bowls for the butter and the cinnamon and sugar mixture
Non-stick cooking spray or oil
Cookie sheet
Bible

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Read John
19:38-42. Open the can of crescent rolls and separate into
triangles. The rolls represent the linen that Joseph of
Arimethea and Nicodemus used to wrap Jesus’ body.

Dip each marshmallow in the melted butter. Then roll the
marshmallows in the mixture of cinnamon and sugar. This
represents the oils and spices Joseph and Nicodemus used to
anoint the Jesus’ body for burial.

Place each marshmallow in the center of a crescent
triangle. Fold the dough around the marshmallow to
completely cover it. Pinch the edges tightly to seal the
marshmallows within the dough. Put each crescent on a
lightly greased cookie sheet. This represents how Jesus’
body was wrapped carefully and laid in the tomb.

Bake the rolls for 10 to 12 minutes. This represents the
time Jesus’ body was in the tomb.

Read Matthew 28:1-7. When the rolls have baked and
cooled slightly, let each child take a roll and open it. In
the same way that Mary Magdalene and the other Mary
discovered Jesus was not in the tomb, the children will
also find that the marshmallow in each roll is gone. During
baking, the marshmallows melt and the crescent rolls puff
up. Just like Jesus’ tomb, the rolls are empty!
