6 medium potatoes, pared and thinly sliced

1 1 /2 teaspoons salt

1 /2 teaspoon pepper

1 1 /2 cups soft bread crumbs

1/4 cup butter

1 cup milk, scalded

Arrange one-third of the potato slices in a buttered 2 quart casserole. Sprinkle with one-third of the salt, pepper, and bread crumbs. Dot with one third of the butter. Repeat layering, ending the seasonings, bread crumbs, and butter. Pour the milk over the potatoes. Bake at 350 for 90 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
