| Cow Tongue Cookies
A little history about the name when you have a bunch of little boys Mama spice cookie arent tough ... but if your Mama make Cow Tongue cookies. these are a favorite here
2 cups granulated sugar 4 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 cups Crisco 2 eggs, beaten 1/2 cup molasses 4 teaspoons baking soda 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix Crisco and sugar. Add eggs and molasses. Mix dry ingredients and add to the wet ingredients. Shape into balls and then roll into finger shapes. Roll in sugar and bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees F.

| my boys at about 11 thought they were wonderful tough and really neat .. the other day one of their friends who's a Dr and his wife came by I served the cookies Dr Yates said COW Tongues they remember I make mine large and serve them with a big glass of milk.. _________________ Gayla

| There was no way I was going to pass up looking at this recipe! Cow Tongues - that's fabulous. Gayla - should you use dark molasses or something lighter? Also, can you use butter instead of Crisco if that's all you have in the house? |

| I use both the regular molasses and I have used the lighter too. Butter is fine. _________________ Gayla
