Cheese Scones

3 c. flour
1/3 c. sugar
2.5 ts. baking powder
1/2 ts. baking soda
3/4 ts salt
3/4 c. butter soft ( melted ok)
1 ts. vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup cheddar cheese shredded

Large bowl: Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, soda , salt. Cut in butter. Add vanilla to measured buttermilk. Add buttermilk and cheese to flour mixture. Mix until dough forms. Pat out 3/4 inch thick on floured board, about 14 x 14 inches, just a guess. Cut into 2.5 inch squares. Bake 425 degrees for about 10 -12 min. lightly browned. They are best if not over cooked.

I love homemade scones and these would be so nice with soup and/or salad.
