| I saw a book on a Mother Earth new site about a book called "The Green Pharmacy".I plan on checking the library this comming week and ask them to order it if they dont have it in stock. It tells how herbs and home remedies work. Does anyone use herbs for home remedies? I know we have posted MYO for cleaning or cooking,,this is about health issues or first aid type things. If you do what are they or some of them. Thanks |

| I've been a little leary of using herbs for medicinal purposes. I've read that if the oils aren't extracted correctly from the plant, it could be dangerous to your health. The best thing is to find someone trustworthy and let them recommend the herbs for you.
I've begun taking a teaspoon full of raw honey in the morning. Raw honey is a good anti-inflammtory, anti-bacterial and is loaded with vitamins and minerals. It, also, is supposed to help allergies and heals wounds quickly. I just started about 4 days ago. I want to see how I feel after about a month from now. |

| I do not use herbs for home remedies, even though they are highly recommended at the local health food store. Some of them are actually not safe and are sometimes recommended in mega doses, and I just do not feel for me personally it is worth the risk. I would find it so hard to keep track of which ones were ok and which ones were dangerous. There can be interactions with other supplements or medicines too. If there is a specific herb you are interested in, I would check with your doctor,or a pharmacist first. ***Just an interesting note... apparently some of our prescription medicines come from natural sources also and they are always searching for new ones to cure diseases. All the more reason to take care of our environment. _________________ MARY |
